A new thread - 'Is it worth it' Basically 'Car vs Price' - ideally for those vehicles that you would question has being overpriced rather than worth every penny that the vendor is asking - I'll post an example and let you form your own opinion (my conclusion was reached in a mere few seconds on this one)
Apparently its 1964 MG B Berlinette - created on the whim of a Belgium coach builder - in my eyes it looks like some ill thought out kit car and lacks any real style or flair however, beauty is in the eye of the of beholder and all that but what really kills this one stone dead is that the vendor considers it to be the rarest of all MGB versions and highly prized to the point that he's asking £90k for it - Consider what other very desirable, stylish & fairly quick classics you could purchase for £90k - in fact being a Yorkshireman I can think of at least 2 or 3 that I could purchase for that money and they all look considerably better than what's pictured above
By all means add your own thoughts or better still examples

This caught my eye the other day, one of my all time favourites and the FF to boot, (I can't remember the last time I saw one under £100K). And you'd have £15K left over! www.ebay.co.uk/itm/334086927660

To be fair the un-'race prepped' versions are a bit nicer IMO with hints of DB5 etc.
that said I still don't get the treatment at the top of the windscreen. Once seen it can't be unseen

Here's another from the lack of style & rapidly failing eyesight school of classic cars - a GRP interpretation of a 'Jaguar Blob' - take a Jaguar cockpit and stick some torpedo style wings on it and this is the abysmal outcome
Just £95k purchases you this dreadful creation - With £95k in your pocket you could purchase a real & very nicely looked after Jaguar XK150 and own a proper car

If you don't mind slumming it with the 3.4 litre engine you'd pick up a reasonably decent rhd XK fhc from around £55K, 3.4 litre rhd dhc's start from just under £90K. A 3.8 litre XK fhc would start from around £75K. A 3.8 litre rhd dhc, hen's teeth and a 'mucked about' example would be upwards of £160K, (e.g. converted from fhc / lhd / 3.4 to 3.8).
The 3.8 litre engine took up to half a second off the 0-60 time and gave you up to an extra 6mph top end over the 3.4 litre car. I'm not sure that'd be worth an extra £20K / £70K to me?!
That appalling Foxbat XK150 estate is still advertised for under £40K, if that could be put into convertible format using original panels and the 3.4 swapped out for the 4.2 litre XK6 engine you'd have a belting car for under £80K.
At that money it should be the best example available in the world and its far from it - just on the images alone I can spot a list of glaring faults - Front bumper is misaligned, OSF wing is a different shade to the bonnet, Rear bumper is misaligned, Rear windscreen corner chrome trims are missing from the windscreen rubber & in general its poorly detailed / paint worn / missing etc for a vehicle that is so heavily priced - I appreciate its not a new car and its nearly five decades old but you cant expect new car / concours money for a vehicle that's clearly not
NB - Hagerty valuation is listed at £6,300 in concours condition

1981 Triumph TR8 - Its a genuine factory V8 car and its unregistered with a mere 124 miles from new - Yep I can appreciate all of that along with the fact that its probably unique / unrepeatable within the market BUT £60k - come off it - you can purchase a real classic sports car for that type of money

Ford Capri RS3100 - One of 250 built & less than 50 of survive - its had a very good restoration undertaken on it but its still a Capri and its nothing that you couldn't replicate for a realistic sum of money - this one however is £79k - You'd find a nice supercar for that type of money - something that this isn't

I love these and this one seems done to a very high standard - and you certainly couldn't find another in this country in this shape, but $50,000 dollars! 29000 pounds!
