As my username implies I already have a number of projects, too many in fact... However for some unknown reason that doesn't seem to stop others appearing, albeit not necessarily for me.
So first a bit of the back story, this one was the result of a plea for help from a work colleague, sadly his mum is having to leave his childhood home due to dementia and in the garden shed and garage was effectively a 'kit' of a Herald that he had rescued years previously from a family friend in London. Seemingly he'd spent many happy days being ferried about in this car, and when it was destined to be disposed of, he decided he'd save it.
What followed was him being towed from central London to Boston in Lincolnshire by his dad on the end of a tow rope, despite sounding somewhat dodgy, apparently it was fine until his dad got closer to home and forgot there was something behind him and started to open things up on the straight roads of Lincolnshire.
The car was then gradually taken apart, parts carefully boxed, and all the panels carefully stored in a purpose bought/built shed ready for a rainy day.
Predictably the rainy day never really came, life moved on and the car has lain there ever since... now faced with having to clear it out, and knowing that I was also into my cars, he decided to give me a call and ask if I knew anyone who wanted it. After initially pondering who might be a potentialvictim deserving recipient, I decided that in my infinite wisdom it would be a good idea if I agreed to collect said project... and that's where the fun really began
Now rather than this be another on my to do list, and not that she doesn't have enough to do already with the A35s, I decided in a stroke of genius that rather than me announce that there was another potential project incoming, I'd instead present it to my wife on Christmas morning in the form of an airfix kit spread amongst various presents, the penny would quickly drop and all would be exciting etc, etc.
Except the penny didn't really drop as planned, the phrase 'what have you done?' was uttered, and the airfix kit proved a bit of a pig to build... Still, despite being severely out of practice, we built it together and apparently the panel gaps are realistic
To be continued...
Oh and for those wondering as it's valentines day, I am still married...
