That South African car could well be a total rot box too. If it was a coastal car, that bad paint job could be hiding all sorts of nightmare bodges, If the roof is anything to go by. The fact that it’s got numbers badly restamped into the slam panel, means it’s been stolen and recovered, so it’s got a very chequered past😕
Anything's possible! There's also one of the photos where the car doesn't look 'square' to me, could be that the camera wasn't being held square or shadows but it might have had a shunt with sub-standard repair work, (perhaps when it was stolen? )
Those W109 Merc’s had wrap around windscreens. I think some of it not being square is an optical illusion with the light reflecting off the corner of the windscreen. The bumper not being straight doesn’t help...Needs wheel alignment 🤣🤣🤣

Through the eyes of a detail body man - the bonnet is up on the nearside and down on the offside - wider aperture gapping to the nearside and tighter to the offside which in turn offsets the grille at a angle - the distance between the indicator / side light and the headlamp rim differs on the offside slightly to that of the nearside - the apron area between the indicator / side lamp and the bumper has indications of previous work on the offside - and the bumper being higher on the offside than the inside creates the illusion that the grille is even further out of alignment than what it physically is - it carries every indication of moderate accident damage to the osf corner - I don't think its had any roof damage / been rolled over etc - the windscreens on these are notorious to fit due to the wrap around curvature - had the roof line been damaged at all the windscreen would be virtually growing legs and jumping out of the aperture - the paint is pretty typical of a poor preparation / low quality paint type job - its not that badly priced for someone like myself that can add value to it but for someone to take it on and start paying professionals to undertake the paint job alongside anything else you would end up spending far more than the vehicles actual value - better to give this one a miss and go and source a genuine - well cared example with all the work completed - this route would actually save you money vs this one - and I've not even started to factor in any hidden / poor history that it may hold
It could also be that the bonnet isn’t properly closed and latched in that photo. There was a knack to closing that bonnet with its two latches. They are pretty pliable with that grill on the front 😊😊
Mercedes-Benz 220SE Heckflosse. W Midlands. £3½K 1961. RHD. Has been off the road for many years. Battered, unloved and in need of extensive restoration. Engine out and in need of rebuild. Stacked headlight fintail, what's not to like?

Another fair priced Merc - this time a 220 Fintail - but rare RHD project on Car & Classic - obviously wants work but at £4,995 or near offer - I'd be tempted to get it running reliably and use as is - it would be straight at home with the used & aged patina look

1972 Lancia Berlina - Right hand drive - 1300cc V4 with a dog leg 5 speed gearbox - this is a very, very rare car in the UK - one of a handful - it needs some cosmetic attention to the paint but other than that and providing its not rotten on the underside / sill area its a worthy project (unsure that the front seats are original though) - I'd say its slightly heavy on the price - if you could get this for the low end of £3k rather than the upper end then it would be worth taking a punt on - ever so slightly tempted due its rarity - that little V4 goes like stink and the fact I could add value to it with a Grumpy quality paint job - Just way too busy to even think about going to look at it though
Rover SD1 3500 Vanden Plas EFi. Worcs. £1,795.00 [ !! SOLD !! ] 1985. In need of extensive restoration. Parked up for many years. Crusty and unloved but not a basket case.
Rover P6 3500. Oxfordshire. £?? [ !! SOLD !! ] 1971. MOT'd & driving well with unblemished MOT history. Fantastic unrestored P6 V8 with very low mileage in striking Brigade red. Museum quality with definite concours potential! Up for offers, I don't know what they think it's worth but I'd have thought £20K-£25K? £More?
A certain Rover SD1 restoring fiend not too far away from me may well be all over that to add to the rest of his growing selection.
I don't think it will be around for long. Typo or is your fiend a bit grisly?
Not a typo, definitely a SD1 fiend, as in "an enthusiast or devotee of a particular thing" always has 2 or 3 on the go and has that well known one in police flavour he saved.
Rover (P4) 100. Highlands. £4K 1960. 2.6 litre for recommissioning / light restoration. Quite a few clean passes in MOT history before being laid up 7 years ago.

Lovely old girl. Drove my first one (a 110) the other week, belonging to a good friend with exotics of all sorts / flavours - it's one of the cars he regularly dailies, which says a lot... I totally fell in love with the thing!

Morris Minor 'splitty'. Northants. £700.00 1954. S2 car for full restoration; split screen, trafficators. Needs rescuing from a 25 year slumber in the brambles. [ !! SOLD !! ]
Its a running project that's carries very sound underpinning's - decent interior too - some outer panels require work and it probably needs a repaint - however, if you can have it away for closer to £4k than the £5k that the vendor is asking and then get it sorted it would be very much worth your while - its also a now rarish S - hence manual box - P6's have been underrated for decades - they are once sorted a proper cruising motor in V8 form - last of the proper Rovers in my book and now starting to make the money that they deserve - £15k ++++ is not unusual - I'm far too busy to even think about taking it on (That and I already own one with 23k genuine miles / 2 owners from new that I really must unearth and get to grips with)

I'm with you all the way on the P6 being under-rated, (having owned a couple). In decent condition they're a car that could easily see everyday use!
