Rover 820 SLi auto saloon. Bucks. £1K Garage find. Low mileage. Last changed hands in 2004 and was parked up soon afterwards. For recommissioning. There are only 34 of these left in the UK, 6 on the road. I reckon this would scrub up well!
1983. Barn find, has been laid up for at least 15 years. Modest mileage. In need of restoration.
This restored would make a nice run around for me & the business and I have a hankering for a older small van / pick up - sadly I have to be realistic it would just end up stored and I would never get around it due to the fact I'm just way too busy with clients cars & life in general getting in the way to ever do something like this justice - it would have to be something more up & together requiring less work for me to commit to anything

Eyes peeled for a GN-friendly pickup! (Although I can't imagine anything other than a Bradford seeming appropriate).

- A small van would be more practical but unfortunately has nice as what they are a Bradford Van is just way too impractical / slow / underpowered for the business - it would need to be something that could realistically keep up with modern traffic - so probably something from the early 70's onwards but devoutly not Ford - hence a little restrictive to Vauxhall / BL offerings not too much bothered by the far & distant shores stuff but some of the European offerings could prove attractive - it all comes down to the fact that a Yorkshire man (aka me) will always pay a fair price for something but never purchase anything that is premium priced vs something that I can add value to - possibly with a paint job but then again something that I don't have to spend a age restoring - simply because I don't have the free / workshop time to do it - I blame that johnthesparky bloke - ever since I painted his retro work van he has me thinking down a similar route
Just slightly soured by the questionable mileage - if it was at the original 54k stated then its not a bad purchase - but @ 80k + miles + ?? then £2.5k + commission makes it slightly stingy (its also 300 miles away but that's not really an issue) - I should have bit on the silver one that escortdan had up sale some time back

Glancing through the MOT history and how many miles a year it has been averaging at different points in its history I think the mileage would likely be nearer 70K than 80K and these engines sail past 150K if properly serviced. I've always thought the Rover 25 an underrated little car - you can pick up nice examples for peanuts.
And for the same money this looks pretty good. No horror stories in MOT history. One retired owner from new. It's a blank canvas for you to put your mark on. You'd also have the benefit of 50+mpg Diesel economy. [ !! SOLD !! ] Rover 25 Commerce van
As far as Yorkshiremen being careful with their money is concerned, you'd have to go a long way to beat a 'Cardi'! Not a lot of people know that copper wire was invented at Cardigan's Cattle Market when a farmer dropped a penny . . .

Just spotted that on the bay and you are bang on correct - decent paint in the company livery and some decent alloys - touch of sign writing and away we go - however I'm not in a hurry and a bit constrained currently due to slipping schedules and my recent unexpected hospitalization spell - so its a bit of a back burner (plus I've just committed to something else that I need like a hole in my head but it was too good a offer to refuse - ho how many times have I done this only to regret it afterwards) but more news on that in the near future on a separate thread
. . . and a bit constrained currently due to slipping schedules and my recent unexpected hospitalization spell . . .
Nothing serious I'd hope except your pretty unlikely to get into a hospital at the moment unless it's serious enough! (Not good places to be near currently).

Vauxhall Nova L 1.4i. Kent. £1,750.00 1992. Low mileage. On-road for 8 years, parked up unused for 20 years. May be damage repaired? To be supplied with fresh MOT & service.
I wonder what the story is with the Nova, the interior looks like its done more miles than stated, lets hope it doesn't need headlights you cant get the face lift ones anywhere now
Peugeot 304 Cabriolet. Surrey. £1K [ !! SOLD !! ] 1973. Has been parked up for many years and is in need of full restoration. Characterful and getting rare. Only 836 rhd examples were produced for the UK market, 25 remain on the road and 28 are on SORN. The cabriolet had the highest survival rate of all 304 models as it didn't corrode as quickly. It could be as rotten as the proverbial pear underneath and beyond economic restoration. At pre-plague prices you'd have paid about £12K for a nice one.
Still on the theme of let's find GN a van / pickup. I love classic minis but I don't fit in them very well;
Austin Mini van. Huddersfield. £8K. [ !! SOLD !! ] www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Classic-Austin-Mini-Van-Project/363143555120 1970. No longer MOT'd, (exempt). No horror stories in MOT history, has only been doing a few hundred miles a year. This is a very keen price for a sound running early mini van that can be driven, improved and put back to stock. Or you could emulate squeakyd's amazing build!
Mercedes-Benz Heckflosse. Essex. £6½K 1967. W110 200 'Fintail'. RHD. Needing recommissioning to become a rolling restoration. South African car which has had a bad respray at some point. For this type of money you'd usually expect a 'barn find' rotbox. This could be a beautiful car again.
Mercedes-Benz 230 Universal (estate). Somerset. £15K 1966. RHD. Rare & stylish estate version of the Heckflosse. No MOT, (exempt). Looks to have been put back on the road 7 years ago, has had issues with structural corrosion.
That South African car could well be a total rot box too. If it was a coastal car, that bad paint job could be hiding all sorts of nightmare bodges, If the roof is anything to go by. The fact that it’s got numbers badly restamped into the slam panel, means it’s been stolen and recovered, so it’s got a very chequered past😕
