A new thread for project cars on the market - its sometimes quite interesting to see what's out there and what opportunity it may or may not offer - warning 'In some cases the vendors description or price expectation may well be laughable but then again it just might be very honest & fairly priced'

So a here's few examples that have recently come to the market

77' Triumph Stag - Much done on the mechanical side but now needs the cosmetics sorting £6,250

1970 Bentley T1 - In running order but requires recommissioning - you could expend a fortune just sorting the paint & interior - then again you could just do the mechanical recommission and waft about in it and annoy just about every member of the Bentley Drivers Club - £8,995

I don't think I've ever seen an XK120 without the front wings.
But I'd be thinking A UK style salt flats racer.
It isn't like that car is complete, original, matching numbers and Sir William Lyon's personal car.

I know some would want to hang me for saying that, but I'm right

And if you did you could throw a more modern supercharged Jag lump & drivetrain into it and attain oodles of MPH vs BHP

I don't have a problem with that idea, personally, it would get the body sorted, perhaps, not painted, a set of wider spoked wheels, a 5.2 stroker engine ITBs, 6 speed and drive it like I stole it. if the big engine did not fit budget, LS9.......... 6 speed, perhaps a Hollinger sequential paddle shifty thing

1975 W114 Mercedes 280 CE - manual - 22,000 miles believed genuine - complete requiring cosmetic restoration comes with spares including panels to restore - its a little overpriced @ £3,995 - if you could bag it for closer to the £3k mark and you are pretty handy with body & paint skills it would make an interesting prospect with it being the 2 door coupe - then again its perfect for modifying too - lowered / bumperless and a slick paint job

Does seem a little expensive for what it is as you say but suspect there's a deal to be had.

For the longest time there was a Jensen parked outside a shop here in the city. It may still be there for all I know. I can honestly say I have never seen a car with the rust so evenly distributed. It was amazing - all the usual spots but my heavens. every panel was rusty roof, bonnet fenders and evenly across the whole panel - maybe it was submerged.

1950 Ford Prefect based pickup - Ex Aus - for restoration - priced with a heavy hand but find another - vehicle is in Northern Ireland - its a lot more of a £5 - £6k project than it is the £7,850 that's being asked for it

Same vendor has a 1959 Ford Zepher based pick up for restoration but again priced with a dealers margin at £8k - NI based dealer but the vehicle is in Southampton so its probably has shipped / landed from Aus

1975 Ginetta G21 - For restoration - quite rare & would make for a pretty car upon completion - fiberglass body - largely underpinned by Rootes running gear - easily restored - vendor asking £3k

1956 Ford Thames 300e van project - all there - very solid project with a fully rebuilt engine - would make a cracking little van upon completion - pity I'm up to my neck in work otherwise I'd have the trailer hitched & be en-route to collect this - very sensibly priced @ £2,500

1958 MG Magnette ZB Varitone - What looks to be a pretty sound car for restoration - running order but needs internal & external cosmetics - done nicely they achieve good money - vendor pricing is a little rich @ £3,950 - bag this for closer to £3k and its very much worth doing
