Do you mean you are not allowed to just go work on cars when ever you want as they are clients cars not your own. Really that blows me away. I have noise constraints but that is SWMBO rules not anything else. I just plan my days around grinding and noise then welding, mech work at night where i dont need to hit things so much. I work on clients cars on public holidays this being Easter wouldnt stop me.
No. You totally missed the point. The reference to having to wait until Tuesday was that the scrap metal merchants are closed so he couldn’t take it and sell it as scrap 🤣🤣

Very much so - I obtained planning permission for a change of use on the workshop - initially the permissions when the garage was first built was for 'Domestic' use only - workshop was built by the previous owner in 1998 / 1999 (who just happened to be a classic car owner / restorer with a MG TA & MG TF) - I obtained planning permission for 'Specialist Classic Car Restoration' in 2018 much to my most immediate neighbours annoyance - they objected in every manner possible and have since been nothing but very irresponsible immature idiots over the matter - So I'm confined on my operating hours - I can work from 08:00 - 18:00 on weekdays & 08:00 to 13:00 on a Saturday - I cant work Sundays or Bank Holidays on clients vehicles - However I can do what ever I like on my personal vehicles - whenever I want within reason - Like most people I'm a sensible & responsible type - I respect all my other neighbours and would do anything for them and they are very much likewise - in fact we consider them friends over the word neighbours - the idiots next door however I could write a book on - miss reporting / taking covert images / placing cockerels in their front garden 8 metres from my property / attempting to restrict access to my workshop & drive etc - its pretty endless has to what they get up to - Hence I don't push my luck - keep my head down - eventually said neighbour will shoot themselves in both feet (they already have to a great degree but its getting quite close to the point that 'Harassment' would stick in a court of law)
I do what I do out of choice - it earns me a small wage - nothing in comparison to what the proper day job did 6 years ago - but I love what I do and to some degree I can please myself - I don't have to advertise or take every job that appears - it affords the flexibility option with low overheads and every morning when I take the 20 metre walk across the yard with my coffee, open the workshop, turn the lights on, switch the radio on 'I'm on Holiday' for the rest of the day
It will all kick off in another week or so when said neighbour views the modern classic parked outside the workshop that's in for some paintwork - They will be out to take pics and report me to the planning authorities for the vehicle not being a classic (in their own opinion) - Its a 2007 car but 1 of 400 limited edition, very collectable, recognised by a established owners club & forum and I've just located 2 of them for sale by specialist classic & collectable car dealers
Always sad when society such as what I tolerate reduces itself to such low levels
Anyhow just about to set off to the barn to collect my Jowett Javelin and trailer it back here - Because I can work on that for the rest of the weekend / bank holiday

Sorry Johnny - Its you that's wrong - The pikeys around here operate on a 24/7 - 365 days a year basis pretty sure I could get £20 for it

Well that is UM CHOCOLATE SPINKLES. I cant believe that they are so obsesive about it. Do they have nothing better in their lives to do. Do they walk everywhere or ride a push bike? At some stage they would need to have their car repaired and i hope like hell it breaks down on a bank holiday. That would make be giggle alot. The definition of a CLASSIC car is in the eye of the owner it is now ones right to say what it is or isnt. BTW what it is ?

The tabs are weep holes to allow any moisture to escape from the floor pan - its all quite thin around this area and the first section of the toe board is not much better either
Removed the perforated / thin sections
Then started stitching in fresh steel
Most of it needs dressing back before I proceed further
So much for production line spot welding - the floorpan is supposed to be spot welded to the inner sill and its clearly not - this I will stitch weld from the underside - it all goes unseen as the castle rail covers this seam
Other sections are ready to go in the morning - I've only had a few hours on it today but on it for the rest of the week now - more tomorrow
This is a project I've been waiting for you to get started on. I've a real soft spot for MGB's, and reading the rest of the thread I can't wait to see it completed.
If all comes off as planned then it should be something a little different to the norm.
By coincidence I had a reminder today that it was 2 years to the day that I started the teardown, it certainly looks a little different now!
It looks far better already, the engine alone looks like a work of art! Projects like this are inspiring for me, although it's a different car to mine the process of a full restoration is fundamentally the same so it's nice to see and follow along, fingers crossed in a couple of years I'll be at the point you're at now.

Ha, yes you could say that. Engine does indeed look good, just a shame it will mostly be hidden but I may have a plan for that.
That's the benefit of a forum like this, to an extent we are all behind the curve of other who have done something similar but then you can change and tweak things to suit your own preferences, plus of course ongoing developments with parts and upgrades. Am sure you will be there before you realise, anything you have any queries on feel free to ask away.
In the meantime, if you've not seen this vid, while not to everyone's taste the mini shown might prove interesting in terms of attention to detail
Without being cruel , (i've done enough of that already) , but i hope its not going back to the factory colour?
Yes, yes you have
The intention is for it to look like a bit of a sleeper so keeping it factory OEM colour fits with the ethos of it appearing stock but only noticing things when you look closer. I take it you're not a fan of Autumn Gold then?
Nowt wrong with 70's-tastic orange. At least I can tell what colour it is (was).
Not sure I'd describe it as orange in the flesh
That said, I've got the full set of the autumn leaf interior too which is certainly very orange... and brown, but regardless quite sought after it would seem.

Not has much progress as I had hoped for yesterday - Kept getting disturbed - also ended up chasing thinning metal up the toe board and into the bulkhead - I wasn't happy with adding new sections of steel to the previous replaced section and removed part of what I did yesterday and replaced it in a one piece section (see even at my level everyday is still a school day & todays lesson is don't take the quality of the steel that 1970's British Leyland used for granted)
Castle rail temporally fitted against the repair for the sill section end
And the repair to the inner sill area completed
That's the majority of the repairs now completed prior to the panels being fitted
Sill panels trial fitted including the outer
Ok at the rear
But the A post area at the rear is preventing the sill from aligning with the inner - its all quite tight around here where 5 separate panels all come together with 4 panel flange sandwich
That front corner really was the achilles heel on the B. When mum had her inca yellow roaster refreshed , that area was suprisingly solid. She loved her B's and in 30 years she only ever had 2 cars , both roadsters. It was only back/hip issues that forced her into a "sensible" car , though not sure that really described a smart fortwo!!
TTV racing are the go to people for flywheels, nice to deal with so its worth ringing
You were spot on - lovely folk to chat to.
Alas their entire stock of what I'm after was bought up by a TVR company in Hampshire , so going to see if I have any joy with them now. Will also give RPi a call as they're not too far away and I've next week off work to do some running about if required.
