1975 Peugeot 304 S Cabriolet with hard and soft tops.

Would have loved to retire early but didn't happen. Got plenty of things to keep me occupied and the car will need to take priority although it will be a squeeze fitting everything in. Don't know how I had time to go to work.

Cant see the council getting involved - has you state its a temporary structure - there is someone in the next village to me with a huge commercial type one - must be 3 metres high sat on the front lawn and its been there a few years 

Right then. Any thoughts on my plan for anchoring this down. I have decided on a 6.1 x 3 x 2.4 metre ( L x W x H ) Clarke temporary garage.

It will be going on a tarmac driveway and for anchoring I am thinking instead of bolting down through the little legs I will spread the load by bolting the legs to metal plates and anchor the plates into the drive. Maybe 6" x 4" plates bolted to the tarmac with something like these or anything better out there?

Use roofing bolts to hold the legs of the frame to the plates, put through from the underside so the plates will sit more or less flat.

It is a Persimmon house and if the quality of the drive is as bad as the house there will not be much tarmac to anchor into and I am worried about the security in a strong wind hence using the plates to spread the distance between the mounting points.

Could do that as well. Was thinking that as the car is still on the spit I could bolt the frame to that for additional security. All depends on how good the ground anchors are and at present I am not convinced the tarmac is strong enough. Think I will make a test drilling to test that.

My folks neighbour has one pegged into his shingle driveway and it's not moved anywhere in the last two or so years, although I think he has a spare slab either end just sitting over the straps that tie the bottoms together.

Bit of progress. Tomorrow I am hopefully going to collect 12 concrete flags. 3'x 2' x2" and very very heavy. Should be plenty to anchor the garage down.
I have been delaying ordering the garage in the hope that Machine Mart have a VAT free weekend but that hasn't happened, sods law it will be on after I order tomorrow.

Preventing wind getting under the cover will help to stop it disappearing into a different post code!

Collected the Clarke garage from Machine Mart on Wednesday and spent yesterday organising the hardware, fabricating (well ok bending) some clamps to secure the corner legs.
Today I started drilling the holes in the concrete flags using a SDS drill but that shattered the underside on the flags.


Plan B was use a normal hammer drill and drill a 4mm pilot hole all the way through, then go half way through from each side with 8mm and then 12mm which was much better.


The brackets for the legs were then bolted to the flags,


with suitable 3mm plate on the underside to spread the load.


Hopefully by tomorrow afternoon you will no longer be able to see this.
