The terminal saga continues, eventually after much searching and asking I found some of the correct terminals Vehicle Wiring Products and they had some too, a tad expensive at £22 for 20, Mr Postman seems to have lost them just to amuse me, and to top off my sense of humour loss, I found the bag of spades I had spent 2 days looking for in the bottom of a box
At least you will have spares to loose again once the others turn up!!
The dog is under control, my Ancient OLD cocker is coming back to me from my pregnant daughter, He's Blind, Deaf, Hips have gone, and has become aggressive towards her, she feels unsafe for the baby, SO, Im having him for a little while and I think the Glue factory my be getting him soon,
Mum had a jet black cocker when i was born... had to have him put down when i was 6 months old as he turned really agressive and dirty with jealousy over the new smelly pink addition to the family!
After JB machined out the pin diamater and our shenaganens up north, I finally got around to trial fitting the front suspension, its going to be tight around the arch lip, So, not being a a lover of rolling lips, and the arch not being round, but oval, do not lend themselves to using rollers. so, 10 mins with a grinder, cleaning and cutting the lip back, a length of 3mm gas welding filler wire, a deft bit of closing with grips and some dolly work resulted in this, I had to go back to the days of my apprenticeship, I should have gone bigger than 2.5 x 3mm lip for the roll over, so its a bit less rolled than I would have liked, but the wire is secure, a bead of sikkaflex, will, I am sure seal and possibly stiffen too, next time I will go with a 10mm lip before rolling, I forgot to add the thickness of the rolled metal in the formula,

That's about has good as a Jowett factory rolled bead and they were doing alloy panels not steel - (creates a right mess with the dissimilar metals corrosion) But as you say with a bead of a urethane sealer against it - it should be fine

Can you not rewire the panels using a good big ally or stainless tig wire

Absolutely but they used steel wire at the factory and 60 - 70 years on you can guess what the mess is
Today has been eventful, I suppose todays question has to be, "HOW LOW IS TOO LOW?" after many weeks of fettling bits and bobs, the time came to put it on the floor, its been airbourne for too long, I think when I cant get a low profile scissor jack from under the car, I may just have found its low limit, I sometimes run my shoed toe along a sill and measure by feel, Mmmm toe dosent go past the jacking point either, after clearing what seems like several tool boxes of tools, discarded nuts, bolts and washers, and I must admit a fair amount of detritus, I pushed the van towards and out the door, with accompanying scraping noises when the front wheels dropped down the the 25mm threshold , then went easily, stood back and admired my handiwork, I must admit, it looks the Spaniels Spuds sitting out there in the sun, time to push it back, fec that was a mission , the gentle scraping was in fact the exhaust clamp dropping down the step to a point of no return, took me and 3 neighbours a but of heaving to get it back into its home, time to spin the exhaust clamp and look for some flat band type, and make the spring perch spacers a little smaller.....
thats a bit of 60mm timber in front of the jacking point!!
Just to prove the van has a front, and it rolls too, I think I may have frightened it with it seeing sunshine for the first time in about a year, front suspension has been raised on the low side by about 20mm (schoolboy error) which took ages to get to the problem and about 2 mins to rectify.
I went thru a lot of thought about bagging the van, and the way I like to drive my cars I build is low, and.... having low bags really have their disadvantages which are handling issues, run bags low, they are soft, which allows for more deflection, and more grounding issues, and not going round corners without massive roll, although provision is in position to fit front and rear ARBs, but I will wait untilI have driven the van to decide what I will need as my suspension setup is somewhat uneque, if any arb is needed I will custom make them, especially as stock they had an ARB on the rear and not on the front, I think understeer city is coming my way
a little piece of the puzzle got done today, I managed to get on my lathe and cut some splines on my steering column, I like my lathe, I can do loads of stuff on it, Took a while but I can now put some steering on the van........
