So, not me but, as we were selling the house it fell to me to sell my daughter's motorcycle projects. I may have mentioned that she had 2 1/2 Honda CT90's. She had purchased them a decade ago and for a number of reasons never restored them. I had briefly considered doing one for her but the insurance is prohibitive and she lives in an urban part of Toronto so really couldn't ride them. At any rate I sold them to a fellow not too far from where we lived. To be clear what I sold was a complete basket case looking like this:
and this
I mention this because in the move I discovered that I had missed giving him one of the engines and a few other parts. Of course I had also lost his address. So, nothing for it but to put an ad up telling him to call - which after a month he did. Well day before yesterday I dropped off the extra parts. What an interesting guy. Old Ford pickup and Lincoln Town Car parked in the driveway - but, more relevantly about a dozen bikes throughout. And since July he had the one bike in the road and the other very close. To be fair he had working engines and the bikes have had other parts added (Kawasaki forks) but still I didn't know whether to kick him or congratulate him. This is what he had.
Admittedly he was retired and had been repairing and restoring bikes for decades so he knew what he was doing. Interestingly he had a couple of larger bikes that he was selling because he just enjoyed pootling around on the little ones. There was a Benley and a step through Honda and at least half a dozen small others. We had a lovely chat and he was genuinely a nice fellow.
Of course the main reason I am telling you is because I can't tell Mrs JP that he did in three months what I didn't in a decade - which would lead into a soliloquy about the speed of my projects - so, mouth shut here but thought you might appreciate them.
