I had a thread going in 'the other place' which originally started off trying to locate a decent Austin 1300 GT for my Dad, it turned into a thread for interesting ADO16s in general (like the MG versions) but also documenting the rare GT's when these became available. I think this cult little car deserves its own sales thread.
Morris 1300 GT. Wilts. £3,800.00 [ !! SOLD !!] 1971. DFH 943J Parked up unused since '93. ?Low mileage? Crusty but not rotten. Complete but in need of significant restoration. In tip top condition would be worth £15K. The 2nd rarest ADO16? There are only 44 of these left!

Love these - we had several of them that formed the backbone of my mums fleet - always second hand she would purchase a newer one every 12 / 18 months or so throughout the early / mid 70's but OMG can they rot
Appears cheap enough at £3,450 - but look closely the front panel is all blistered with rot perforation around the lights - the sills appear to be caked in underseal on the external faces (a clear sign of structural weakness being masked) and the rear arches are all flaking out with rust perforation - you could easily spend a few £k trying to sort this out

Same here, my Dad had 4 or 5 of these in a row including MG and GT versions. The MOT history on that red 1100 doesn't look brilliant to be honest but thankfully there are so many of these still around it's no major task to find a good one. A decent example would be a very viable proposition as an everyday runabout.

Ex-Pressed Panels do quite a bit of replacement panels for the model so repairs are viable on them - however at a price - a sill + inner & outer rear arches are £500 + vat a side - a front panel is again £500 + vat - £1500 in panels before you even contemplate front inner / outer wings and the dreaded rear subframe mountings that was the death toll for so many of the model type - I would still give a ready home to one in my fleet if one crossed my path that was half decent - and on the half decent note I would always advise anyone to purchase the best that they can afford - even going above your budget for a really sound one - has like most cars of this era / type that were largely unprotected from rust perforation from leaving the factory - restoration costs can readily exceed 4 times the physical value of the car upon completion - don't let me talk out one owning though - they are fantastic little cars once up & together / sorted - to the point that I'd have an estate version if I came across the right one at the right money and abandon my classic van search

We're definitely into Hen's Teeth territory with the estates. This stunning low mileage unrestored example was for sale some months ago, on the negative side it was an automatic and there would have been little scope for you to add value; www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C1169961
Fame at last! Good to know i have a hand in making the GT such a rare beast.
Back in the late 80's i bought one as an engine donor for my clubman , £25 or thereabouts if my memory serves me. Mind you it literally cost me blood. The owner was a hippy living in a field about 5 miles from Lizard Point and half way back from a blast...sorry , test drive down there , we ran out of fuel. After a cross country hike back to his "camp" my feet felt rather wet... soaked in blood infact as i was in brand new DM's and they had ripped my heels to pieces.
The car ran really really well though , he had just been to Spain and back in it but i soon found out why the handling was a little "wooly". The subframe was attached to the boot floor but the boot floor wasnt really attached to the rest if the car in any meaningful way , it was a pretty rotten pig.

I messaged the seller about the car within a hour of it going live on eBay and he said he had some one coming the following morning at 9.30am with £3250 and when I went on line it was in my ended list at 10.30am so I guess the man was true to his word and snapped it up.

Hi BMC PAUL, good to see you! I knew this one wouldn't be around for long!

Did the same, albeit without the 1300GT kudos, bought a deafaid beige 45000 mile 1300 to liberate its lump, duly & properly Oselli'd, into my little orange Mini Marcos
For sale on the street in Warwick we paid IIRC £35, weighed the shell in for a tenner, and never looked back!

MG 1300. Gloucs. £6,765.00 1970. Desirable 2-tone paint. Low mileage. Long MOT. It has a creditable MOT history and has only been doing a couple of hundred miles a year with the occasional year or two where it hasn't been used. No bargain but a fair price for a car with great potential.
