Not much happening this but did get a new cheapy Mountney wheel for the Viva, the old one was a bit small and covered some of the gauges so we will see how this one goes, it could have done with more dish so might look around for something else over the next 10 years or might try and find a spacer
Dont seem to have achieved much this year, just the usual smallholding stuff which is always a rush once the weather turns nicer, so we did a bit of this
Is this what is termed has 'A country life', 'Semi retirement', 'realising the dream' Or a combination of all 3
Not sure really but when your hands on type of people I dont think you ever retire! at the time we were loosing the storage for the spares, the kids had all left so we were rattling around in a big expensive house and this made perfect sense, about 650 square mtrs of outbuildings, a 3 bed house and plenty of land for the price of a 3 bed semi back in Bedfordshire!
They are about the only thing we dont eat! it gets harder every year to find good homes for them though and lot of the folks I wouldn't trust with a soft toy!
Earlier in the year I splashed out on one of the Chinese diesel heaters, you know the ones advertised with flames coming out the front and 8kw heat output, now everyone knows they dont have flames coming out the front and they arent 8kw but the price was right and if it helps to thaw my fingers out in the packing area thatl do!
Times ticking on and I dont seem to get much project time but thats going to change now, I have plenty of space but most of it is stacked with spares or random junk that you need on a smallholding but this space is going to be car space and being cleared at present
The Viva is useable but does need tidying at some point so I will leave that alone for now, what I want to get back on the road is the Carlton Estate, ive owned it for about 30years and its such a usefull motor I want it back as a daily, it was taken off the road 7 years ago as it needs welding and once I start to poke who knows! I would have liked to do a proper restoration but thats just not going to happen, the 3.0 24V engine has covered just shy of 400,000 miles so that will want a freshen up along the way
The project is in, got it moved over from the other barn as the weather is meant to be rainy for the next few days, a reasonable amount of room to get around it and work with the doors open
