After what seems like ages looking for a replacement 4X4 we have finally got one! boy oh boy is there some rubbish being rolled out, make wasnt too much of an issue but didnt really want anything Land Rover as I didnt want to spend my life picking bits up that have fallen off or fixing the thing!
So we looked at Jeeps/Mercedes ML/Isuzu Trooper/Nissan Terrano/Nissan Pathfinder/Mitsubishi/Ssssanyong whatevers/Kia things then onto Range Rover P38s, all rusty knackered sh*tters being sold by retards!!
Here we are then the new transport!
Wasnt going to get one but it ticks all the right boxes and comes in on budget! Its a 2001 2.5TD5 with about 130K on it, had plenty spent on it over the years, very straight on the outside and pretty good on the inside, underside is amazingly good for one of these with one small patch required on the chassis right at the back, a few other jobs to do over the coming months are a grumbly wheel bearing(I hope) have a good clean up underneath and treat/seal any rusty bits, it also has the standard bedouin style baggy headlining to sort at some point!
Only other issue is no tow bar! must be the only one in the world without one so if any one has a spare hanging about let me know!
So i nearly have some space do a bit of vehicular project stuff which will get me out of the weather!
Dug the illuminated chicken out so will try and get that mounted up somewhere out of the way, its nearly 5 foot so it will be good to get it out of harms way
Ive saved some history! over the past few weeks ive made a few journeys from east coast to west coast, this is just a few of the cabinets!! they may not look very interesting but they are the microfiche drawings for virtually every component to build all models of car/light van and commercial from a major car manufacturer dating back to the 1950s, a massive task to retrieve them and store them but saved they have been!

Well done and no doubt well worth the effort plus its possibly unique - going through the same process with the Jowett factory records but these are all on paper and there's mountains of it - thankfully the West Yorkshire Archive Service has housed it for the last 20 years but its tricky to access etc - Future plan (once we have raised the funds) Is to house it ourselves along with our spares department plus maybe a committee room & workshop bay for technical meetings but that's going to take 4,000 sq ft / £250k and we are only just launching the fund
Well if your paying attention to some of the pictures above I was doing a grand job clearing some space for car time, its not quite gone to plan as I fetched this lot!
Its that hay making time of year my favourite job...
Also managed to make some space and get the aperture cards in position, all on cut down pallets so I can move the stacks around with the pallet truck if needed, there is about 400 draws and they aint half heavy when they are full!
Each little card has the Vauxhall/Bedford part number and a microfiche of the engineering drawing of the particular part, I guess they go back to the late 1940s and up to the early 1990s

That's a hell of a useful resource that's been saved - Many others from multiple manufactures / dealer franchises were binned / scrapped - we have quite a lot of blueprint drawings from the Jowett factory - they are all stored within a council held archive and have been been for decades but they are very, very difficult to access (Its much easier to give blood) - I have a plan but it requires a few hundred thousand pounds to be raised first

Ive a pile of Opel specific stuff which is all in German from the various overseas plants, not sure what to do with that yet, might try a few of the clubs, if not its really got to go!

1st batch of cards ready to send off to be digitized so a customer can get some internal gearbox components made, something that would have been impossible had the cards been junked
