Now this I like Definitely look good when dropped. As most things do. One I found on the net. Convince me this isn't cool😁
there's some amazing ones out there. nearly all on vw floorpans. the guy who built that one is working in a blue one now on bbs splits. There is a super clean UK dauphine on a vw pan with an EJ20 motor in the back. Ive only seen it in pictures but its flipping stunning.

And there's the drag race one (which I know you know about Adey!) which is VW powered, but not on a VW floorpan. Its essentially a tube frame chassis built inside the original monocoque, holding a VW beam front suspension and a ladder bar rear. Same colour as this one, but about 5 years newer and RHD. Oh, and it runs 10s.

yep lee maynards dauphine which i loved before i found mine
here's a funny one for anyone who read my original post on RR, the guy who fobbed me off before i bought this one came to my house to buy some spares for his dauphine, he doesn't remember me at all and seems like a really nice bloke lol
I've been having a bit of an issue chewing up front inner tubes, gone through 3 recently. I think a combo of low pressures and wide tires contributing to them getting chewed up. The tire shop built one of my wheels back up as a normal modern tire and steel wheel combo with bead sealer. It held up really well and hasn't dropped pressure so ive had the other one that was leaking slowly done too. The car feels so much nicer and smoother to drive now, strange considering its just an inner tube. Once i sort out the rear wheels getting banded ill not fit tubes to them either. Surprising what a difference it has made to the feel of the car.
Ive managed to get my speedo working by shaving down the original dauphine speed cables connector from a flat spade connector to something closer to a square, it seems to work well now and locates nicely in the gearbox. reads a little out but nice to have something working so i can rough out how fast im travelling. Another pikey fix and saved me buying an r8 speedo cable. My non working fuel gauge turned out to be a loose connection on the tank so that's also sorted.
As i like to take the Dope out as much as possible the Wife and I went for a little jaunt to Ross-on-Wye to pick some shopping up, on the way back we took the back roads home and drove through some of the little villages close by and stopped by a very pretty "castle" and took some pics. Rides very well, will hit 70mph with relative ease now (much to the wifes concern)

Otherwise known as a 'Hamster house'
Glad to hear car is going well.
Indeed it is
Still going well too though ive not updated here as compressing the pics to fit is a pain to do, ill get on it soon and post some more up. Last weekend i machine polished the car and gave it some wax to try and keep it protected over the wet winter months
So ive been getting itchy feet and wanted to change the look of the car a little. I originally hung these bad boy retro fog and spot off the bumper but they looked very plonked on and about an inch off the floor. Id seen a similar to the pic above on a car that helped with inspiration years ago, before i even bought the dauphine. This is how they ended up on mine, they have been wired in nicely with a switch and relay. I think a way in the future plan would be to do a decent fuse and relay box install and rewire a lot of the it as im now starting to add more and more electrics into it.

The fuse box/relay box would allow you to run the circuits you have now, and add more later...yep, spot on. I wonder if you could source a used one from something, or just buy new......
Ive seen kit/hot rod fuse box kits that might work, though pulling one out for a scrapper would be more my style.
As it wasn't raining today I uncovered the Dope and gave her a little run out. I had to jump it with a duff battery but it was enough to catch. I think the battery on there is totally duff now, itll last a day or 2 after a run but if left it doesn't have the guts to get it to fire.
Ive had an idea, it might not come to anything as im not sure it would even work. I was planning to get the wheels banded at somepoint but have always been a fan of the 5 star early wheels and the 5x205 fitment vw wheels. I have asked around for the 5 star renault wheels but it would be quite involved to get to fit and the parts are like rocking horse doo doo. Recently i was browsing and saw some 4x100 to 5x205 classic vw fitment adapters. Im wondering if i could do the same but run 3x150 to 5x205 adapters..... would give me some really cool looking steelies on there and further options for wheels.
