I'm the first arrival and set out our camp area
Otherwise we end up getting spread apart - I also like to find a quietish spot away from generators / lighting towers & more important the ones that want to party all night
I then went off to watch the cricket match - drivers are selected to form the teams and its a few hours of chilled out entertainment - the camp was much more established once I returned

In Revival tradition the cricket match
And whilst the race drivers banter to the attendance in a form of entertainment - Tiff Needell keeping close to the boundary whilst fielding - not in the hope of stopping any fours but to allow him to keep sipping his glass of pimms that is retained on his behalf by a spectator
Meanwhile there's an exclusive pitch side carpark for the classics

Superb weekend as ever, albeit the weather made things interesting (and expensive for some teams!) at times.
For the sake of continuity/ease, I'll try and jump in-between Chris' posts so the timeline stays the same... that and so we don't then end up posting the same pics!
After setting up camp lunchtime on the Thursday, some familiar transport arrived for a quick bite to eat and the afternoon's visit to the Drivers vs Lord March's XI cricket match
Asides the action on the pitch, as you have already seen, there is some eclectic variety in the classics parking:
Two wheels are as welcome as four
Or you can have both
Some of the race cars that are road legal also make an appearance
A pleasant afternoon had, it was soon time to head back to camp, where we were treated to the daily 'Evening patrol' of a brace of spitfires
The noise is always something else and always gets people outside their tents and vans to watch.
As 'Over the Road' is open to those camping only on the Thursday eve we thought we'd head across for a bite to eat and a wander, the banner said it all

Still at the cricket match
The military jeeps run into the various campsites of which they are many - the larger military personnel carriers run the track marshals from the campsites to the marshal points around the circuit
Spot Mr & Mrs toomanyprojects at the rear of the Vauxhall - Bentley Special
Has the match draws to a close I have to shoot off to attend a drivers briefing but there's so much more to come

The Javelin heading off on taxi duties
With the correct gate passes we can get the cars up to Lavant Corner which makes it pretty handy for spectating the races but also means that we can make the most of our time in between our shifts otherwise its a real pain attempting to park the car up for an hour then walk to find a decent trackside spot to spectate from - this way we can come & go quite easily
No fancy camera / racing shots I'm afraid - I just have the camera phone
The screens give a good overview of the track action around the circuit
Julian Crossley's race Javelin being put through its paces

Revival has a theme every year
Said themes are always undertaken with a high level of detail - This years theme being 'The Greatest Show on Earth' played out by dancers / actors / circus / staging / fairground staff / effects / vehicles etc

It had taken the owner of this series 2 over a decade to find install the correct period type military radio that was initially installed to the vehicle - All in working order too
I really liked the green 2 tone scheme on this Bentley - what I didn't like is the fact that its engine & drive train had been ripped out and replaced with an electric drive system - Do the hell you want with your moderns but lets leave our historic heritage as it was intended to be powered

In between the taxi duties a meet up with the French neighbour of a fellow Jowett owner to collect the spares required to rebuild his Jowett Bradford engine
There was no end of modern performance cars
A year off from the infield & paddocks which I just never got around to - but reports from others stating that it was has good as ever - there was a pretty spectacular historic Lotus display which took to the track for parade laps
And that's it for another year - The Javelin took a graze in the course of its duties that I'll have to sort over winter
