The problem you have with the Kemppi is you don’t have a flat surface to bolt a panel mount euro connector to, so you are at their mercy to buy their conversion. £120 for the connector is steep in my book seeing you can get a good quality panel mount euro connector for £50.Unfortunately, you cannot use that on that machine 🙁. That said, the hardwired torch that comes with the machine is superb. If I wasn’t needing to run a spoolgun for Aluminium, I wouldn’t be bothered with converting to a euro connector style torch.
Got the euro connector fitted to the welder with a new torch, so that enables me to use a spoolgun with aluminium.
Most of the parts for the wire feeder/spoolgun have arrived. Still waiting on gears, as a design change means the 28t gears were too small. I couldn’t get 30t gears at the time so I ordered 31t. Just won’t work so had to bite the bullet, order the correct 30t gears and wait for them to arrive.
Found a suitable bit of aluminium I can recycle into bearing carriers and got busy
Screw is M2.5 for a sense of scale. About as far as I could get without the gears. Hopefully they turn up soon. Have left it set up in the Cnc mill as I can get the other three parts of the bearing carriers out the back side of this lump of aluminium
I’ve been looking for a dividing head for the milling machine for about 5 years now. Cannot really justify a £500 price tag for a good secondhand one, that will get used once or twice a year. Been looking at the inlet manifold I wnt to make for the Suzuki engine, and it dawned on me it would be a lot easier if I did have a dividing head.
So , had a look on eBay yesterday. One that looked pretty grubby for silly low money, with three minutes of auction time to run… and best part, 13 miles from work. Cheeky bid of£50 saw me win it. Turns out it was a scrap dealer that didn’t have the heart to scrap it after someone weighed it in along with all the scrap from a deceased estate house / garage clearance
Bit of love with a rag and some wd40 shows it to be in immaculate condition, hardly used.

You have to love it when fate steps in. Kudos to the dealer who didn't dispose of it.
Actually the son of the owner. He now has my contact details for engineering bits. Quite happy to sell , which, for a scrapyard these days, is the exception, not the rule
Got busy with the other three wheel holders for the spoolgun
Mainly so I could take the piece of material out as I needed the Cnc mill for something else. That’s all I needed to do on the first side. Will roughly cut them out of the blank on the bandsaw.
No it’s not an Audi badge drawn by Retardo Humugus…. 🤣 Seeing I need to get some lasercutting done, that can get supplied at the same time. That’s the blank for the part to strengthen the top of the block.
Forged rods, pistons and crank. Asthma pump I take it will be a turbo or supercharger. You planning on going drag racing and do you have an expected power output?

Around the 300hp mark from 1300cc. Jury still out ,but Turbo preferable at the moment

Definitely going to an interesting build so watching with interest.
That’s the turbo taken care of…nearly. Holset is now a Cummins owned company. This particular turbo is based on a T2 but with all the right internals. Only change I would like to make is to try and find an externally wastegated turbine housing for it, but they are rare in the size needed.
Not sure if that’s a good sign 🤣. My lasercutter often puts in extra bits if they think the quality of one of the parts isn’t good enough. Only ordered one blank to dry deck the block, had two supplied. Hopefully it doesn’t mean I will need another block shortly 🤣🤣
