All ready for collection, then the power steering pump turned out to be leaking, so got one Off the donor and posted it to them. Hopefully collect it this week or next, no idea of the bill for all this work
Car back now, all good, now to finish stripping the donor cars and get rid of them, then get the sport bumpers and wheels on, then I can get the interior done.
I think I’ve caught an e34 bug, I’ve bought my 4th one this year 😂
Having it delivered tomorrow from Copart, will be keeping this one for my daily, as I don’t want to pay £3500 company tax, to basically rent a car off my work. Hopefully just throw a bumper on and get chips away or someone to paint it green
The car from Copart is a category N, not structural repair, but I’m guessing the guy who assessed the car was called stevie wonder
Overall everything on the car works, most panels have rust, the rear arb has snapped the little dog bone like things in the bump.
I’ve stuck a bumper on it now, and will get it put in for an MOT and see what happens, as if it needs much more it will be for the chop aswell.
Use it as a run around until it’s too far gone.
The boot floor has buckled in a few places and the rear quarter panel has moved a bit as the door gap has closed up, will put a winch on it and give it a pull to maybe pull it out a bit. But as a cheap run about will do the job
The green touring I planned to use as my main car turned out to be worse than I thought, so will break it instead.
So as I still need a new but fairly cheap daily driver, as I haven’t learnt my lesson on Copart, I’ve bought something else from there, although a bit newer, good thing with slightly damaged cars, you don’t worry about scratching them, my son usually climbs all over inside with dirty shoes, the dog can jump in, you don’t need to worry about the service book, just service it yourself, don’t worry where you park it, and by me in country lanes your always having to pull half way into the bushes to let other cars past which you don’t worry about
Seems like you've done ok using Copart - all I ever read about is loads of unnecessary underfloor damage from them using forks to lift them regardless of their drivability etc.

The x3’s bumpers a bit out of shape but good enough for what I needed, a cheap daily to use until something expensive goes wrong.
yeah copart, there are loads of horror stories, I haven’t been bitten yet by them
dropped the x3 off for an MOT today so will see what happens with it tomorrow.

Mot tester failed because the rear lower wish ones are bent up from the car being lifted up
I sorted that, but turns out the engine has some issues, misfires and cuts out while driving all the time, I’ve replaceded a few bits but getting to the point I’ll stick it back in copart and buy something older will less hassle.

There's an awful lot to be said for a basic distributor, plugs, points and a carburettor - Just imagine attempting to restore the engine management / car electronic / chipped systems on todays moderns after they have been left abandoned in a leaky garage for 30 years
The x3 is going to auction. What a waste of time and money.
Still need to find something to replace it with.
Wheels on the bmw. I’ve painted 2 of them now. Done the centres in granite silver, hopefully it will match on when I get the sport bumpers fitted and have the Lowe bumpers and skirts painted granite silver.
Genuine m5’s didn’t paint the wheels. So hopefully it looks ok. Otherwise I’ll be painting the wheels centre's again silver.
