Andy has decided to hold onto the Daimler for now and its been back into the workshop
Its a little under 2 years ago since I last undertook some corrective paintwork to it - The OSF door in very strong sunlight was somewhat off in colour - looking more brown than red
I had the paint rematched by spectometer and painted the side of the car again - for some reason the front door kept reacting to the paint and showing a dark underlying shadow deepening the colour tone of the paint - very odd and I have only come across this problem a few times before a few decades ago
After a few attempts with the paint I resorted to applying a specialist isolating primer to the door then once cured applying the colour again
Which once flatted & polished created the right result
Quite rare but no one likes a comeback regardless of reason - In this case its unexplained but you are working with paint / lacquer / chemicals along with metallic colours on a 30 year old vehicle - Fact is these things happen - rarely but they do happen - I have always stood by my work - Its quite simple - If I cant warrant it I wont do it - no additional charges made - Andy happily got the car to me & collected it - neither of us had to get embarrassingly angry or apologetic about it - It got sorted - BTW its a fantastic car hard to believe that the whisper quiet engine is a V12
Chris - a public thank you for your dilligence and customer service. Really strange how the front door was browner than the rest of the car. I don't understand the chemistry or the science behind paint, but what I do know, is the car looks great again. Avoided the motorway on the way home last night, and had a great cross country blast. Very enjoyable. So much so, I took it out again today, diverted on the way home to my favourite photo spot in the New Forest.
I've done about 150 miles in the last 24 hours, and enjoyed everyone of them. Sunroof open and windows down, or all closed up and AC on, depending on my mood and speed.
I only run my classics on Shell V-power now, which isn't cheap, but they all seem to perform well on it. Despite the 6.0 V12, and spending a lot of time in the fast lane. I was getting 20mpg today - which isn't bad at all.
The Daimler had a long slumber over last winter in storage. Despite my best efforts, it didn't go to plan, and I had some remedial work to do, to get it back to 100%. A new battery (again) was essential, but an easy fix. The MOT and AC regas just took time, as everybody seemed booked up through August.
Gave the old girl a good old polish, and got the paint shinning in the sun again.
Alas I really am running low on options now, for easy over-wintering storage, so I'm putting it up for sale again.

Just a stunner of a car - pretty sure that it should just simply sell itself but its a very, very strange market and has been for the last 18 months - The idiots have been breeding / multiplying in their thousands - Hopefully they will stay away and not trouble Andy
It is with a heavy heart, that I update my BRM profile. The Daimler has gone to a new home. I'm currently finding solace with alcohol - that was a good car. Still at least it will be cared for over winter and kept undercover.
