I've owned this for just over three years now.
I wanted to scratch an itch with a Jaguar, and my bucket list was missing a "Tick" in the "own a V12 car" section.
As with all of these thing, I ended up buying it on the back of a poor eBay advert 300miles from home.
Gravel drives and great photography was not what I had to work with.
But I had a good chat with the owner, who was a very nice chap. But he couldn't garage the car, and it was beginning to get away from him.
So he wisely decided to sell it before it got too bad.
We struck a deal, and he got a basic service done at his local garage at my expense, so I could at least stand a fighting chance of making it home in one piece.
XJ40 V12's are pretty rare. Reasons for their demise include but not limited to the following
Daimler versions with the upgraded interior are rarer still.
As I was fussy about colour scheme and interior condition, and impatient. I really didn't have too many choices apart from take a train to Lancaster with a bag of cash.
But the seller was good to his word, and it was a decent car. So I began my journey home.
I stopped fairly early on just to take some reference pictures.
I've got just enough service history to believe the mileage is genuine.
Yeah not looking too shabby
The interior is in very good condition - I was especially happy to find a 93 model with the black dashboard, and steering wheel I much prefer.
The rear is in even better condition.
I could cope with a car that needed a little mechanical and body love.
But the interior had to be bob-on, and it is.
Daimler added so much leather - sunvisors, B-pillar trims and parcel shelf to name some. Any kind of retrim/upholstery work would have been crippling.
Although I do plan to change the carpets at some point.
To be continued........

XJ40 V12's are pretty rare. Reasons for their demise include but not limited to the following
- Catalyst fires due to poor ignition maintenance
- Crashed due to decent power, LSD and no traction control
- Rust and general running expenses
- Moon milers used hard by execs back in the day
