Still on with it - one of the socket faces was a temporary measure from a few years ago Another was playing up & the rest have all had a life
So they have all been replaced & tested throughout the workshop
I always shield the light diffusers from overspray (there's only 16 of them!) - you'll be amazed at how much they catch - I just use a heavy duty clear wrap - all the lamps on the walls get filthy - hence they also got sorted
Still more to do in-between many other things but slowly ticking the boxes
Bit more organisation under the folder bench too with separate tubs for light / heavy steel offcuts along with alloy plus ferrous / non ferrous scrap buckets

Completed the last of the grey banding to the walls - Whilst the floor would look nice painted its a waste of time because the first time that I paint a car the floor will be covered in overspray - I also like to wet the floor prior to painting hence it would just turn into a skating rink if it was a painted surface - I had it screeded several years ago so its a nice smooth surface to work from
The remaining lights have all had the film changed - All the lights are LED and if you remove the diffuser's its difficult look directly at them
Just got the 2 doors & frame to do now but I need to go & get the blue paint mixed first
Next on the list is to sort & reorganise the storage out in the loft

Internal doors of the workshop have been painted
Along with the frames - frames might require another coat yet - new door handles are on order and should be with me tomorrow
The main garage door was green when we bought the house - I hate the colour but have never got around to changing it - Mrs GN fancied everything in some fancy Farrow & Ball blue which I put on the loft access doors - I don't like that colour either
So they have both been prepared and placed into grey undercoat today - just the final colour to follow at some stage in the next few days - still tons to do / Jowett National Rally next weekend and I have my Javelin to clean up / check through - rest of the house to clean & sort as a certain Javelin owning visitor arrives from Switzerland tomorrow - Jowett shop stock to sort for the rally along many, many other things

So is it safe to assume that Mrs GN is working out of the country again?

In the UK but far enough away to not interfere with my choice of colour She's up in Glasgow on a 12 month contract working on costume for a series called 'Outlander' (Don't know & never seen it) - We will catch up at the Jowett rally this coming weekend then she's home over the Jubilee weekend by which time I'll have turned everything grey (and I'm not changing it again)

you are a braver man than me!
(this all reminded me suddenly of a time back in the 90's when my son was quite young (he is 35 now) and Mrs. JP was painting his room - Back then textured paints were the thing and Mrs JP gave my son the colour choice - unfortunately son is colour blind - so he picked the wrong shade. No problem thinks Mrs JP I'll just substitute the right shade. Off son goes to camp and comes home to a freshly painted room. And, as predicted, he has no idea it is a different shade.
Until Mrs JP feels an inexplicible need to confess - which she does and he has never let her forget ..... )

Has per my diversions thread the workshop store area in the loft has been receiving a lot of attention
I invested in a further 5 sets of racking and eventually got them built - A frustrating task because you need to clear enough floor area to assemble and then site the racking but in order to do so I had to build temporary mountains of stuff / stock / items that should be on the shelves in the first place
But now I can access / egress from the front to the back of the stores without falling over numerous items in the process of doing so
It resembles a rabbit warren but its a tidy organised rabbit warren
I've gone to great lengths to not only group & organise everything but to also ensure that most items are boxed & labelled where required - I have always liked to store parts for workshop & future projects in dedicated racked areas - there's currently 7 projects up there 3 client & 4 of my own
There has been much consolidation / throwing out of things that haven't seen any practical use and are of nil / little value - other items have been set aside and either ear marked for sale within the near future or donated to the Jowett Car Clubs autojumble collection that in turn generates funding at several events over the year - My paint stores still require some consolidation which still retains a range of paints from a previous business that I ran several years ago - these are water based paints that I'm highly unlikely to ever use
I nearly lost the will to live when I embarked upon sorting my small consumable sundries stock out - Its a critical stockholding of nuts / bolts / washers / screws / rivets / fastenings / clips etc - I was gifted a large amount of stock several years ago but it was randomly mixed / unsorted / unlabelled etc - Now all correctly sorted / stored & labelled - I have also gone to great lengths to ensure that the racking is populated in the correct location - A mixture of items that are most commonly used just at the top of the stairs along with anything that is quite heavy and used frequently i.e. 12 volt slave battery for jump starting / breakdowns - The slower moving stock / bulky items placed to the rear of the stores - The stores area also has to accommodate my building materials along with tools & equipment for progressing works on the house along with couple of pieces of powered gardening equipment - There are still about 10 large boxes of household stuff that takes up space behind the racking - these we haven't touched since we moved to the chapel some 9 years ago - Hence in my book its useless and not required - Mrs GN is having none of it and promises to sort it on a annual basis and its yet to get done She has now promised to sort this upon finishing her current work contract at the end of February - After being married for 20 odd years we recently settled upon a new tactic of holding each other to ransom - Its quite simple she holds the promise and sorts the boxes of tat and I'll commence works on the new bathrooms in the house - BUT no sorting = No new bathrooms Meanwhile If I don't fulfil my promise and commence works on the new bathrooms then I don't get my freedom pass for Classic Lemans 2023 - I've protested that this is most unfair but she's just not listening - is just me that's singled out for such treatment
I now have a 'Sort It' shelf for anything that doesn't have a allocated / rack space - this will act as a temporary home until it gets sorted - previously things just got placed on the staircase until the staircase resembled a small mountain and ended up with me falling over everything
Staircase is now dumping ground free and I've given myself a severe talking to that it must not be used as a dumping ground again
And I found some space to hang my clamps at the bottom of the stairs - these I normally fall over in the workshop - Not quite finished yet - I need to book a tip run and get shut of the rubbish / junk that I've thrown out - I have a small bench to build at the top of the stairs and a new led batten to install above it - one of the bulkhead lamps in stores requires replacement and once that lot is sorted I can then redecorate the lobby area at the bottom of the stairs 'Then I can call it DONE' !
