Apologies for the slow response - Goodwood Revival - a 3 day historic race event but so much more thrown in- many other venues have attempted to replicate / copy this event and no one has even come close - its a very unique event and attracts a worldwide attendance - its a themed time warp with the vast majority of people getting very involved even down to period dress - a few pics from previous years
Its not just about racing - everywhere you look is themed / set dressed to look the part - fabulous motors parked up everywhere you go or look
Sounds a faff but the period dress thing is a must - This me & the other half with our 1952 Jowett Javelin - the other half is a costumer in high end film / theatre / TV production - so I don't get let off - meanwhile she fills the car with period outfits - at least a different one for each day (sometimes 2)
Endless rows of race cars in the pits
The entertainment goes for miles - so if you are just going for the day plan ahead - set out what you want to see - what races - what static displays - what areas - read up on the event via the website - order your programme early - get there early too roll up at 8.30 onwards and you will queue for a hour just to park the car - if you are on a budget bring your own food it can get expensive - purchase your tickets early otherwise you may well be disappointed when you find out that event sells out 10 weeks in advance - I can cover more areas / topics of the event closer to the time should you wish - I've been doing all 3 days of the event every year for about the last 10 years

I forgot to mention that the circuit infield has its own runway - it is after all a former second world war RAF base - the event also fields a large static display of historic aircraft
The ones that can afford their own light aircraft can fly in prior to the start of each race day - others that don't own a light aircraft but don't want to drive to the event (and have deep pockets) come in by helicopter
This all looks amazing, I really can't wait. We're planning on doing all 3 days, I don't think we can quite afford to arrive via DC3 though!
What are the camping options for the weekend?
You will not be disappointed I forgo several events in order to attend this one - Full camping facilities are available but book very early - campsite E is adjacent to the circuit - I set up camp Thursday midday normally with around 10 - 15 others (all part of the Jowett Car Club) - but there is no reason that you couldn't join us or that we reserve a area adjacent to the club site for BRM attendees that wish to camp over - but getting your camping passes early is critical - these sell out way in advance of the show

N341A is the only Douglas C-41A built which was a special order as VIP transport for the US Secretary of War near the start of WWII. This fine plane has completed only 9,500 flying hrs and is owned and operated by Aerotechnics Aviation Inc of Tewkesbury. Unless my lottery numbers come up, I almost certainly won't be flying in by this mode of transport either!
As for camping, take industrial grade tent pegs and a BFH. The field we were in lastime had a cast iron lining 🤣🤣
Campsite E - is a former quarry - its blinded over with a mixture of soil & reject stone - more stone than soil - the campers with experience take 250mm long self drilling decking screws and a cordless power driver - use the decking screws with large penny washers and you have a simple & quick solution for retaining the guide ropes

....And 3 cases of beer /2 bottles of gin to soften the stones before bedtime....
Only did the event once when Vauxhall supplied cars to be used as taxis and I was one of the nominated drivers, we had a great time but I think it made it more special being behind the scenes a bit having access to almost everywhere!
It might also have helped that we were put up in a big swankey house somewhere with fully stocked fridge!
Can't wait! Very much hoping the Weasel will be up to taxi duties all being well! After taking a break for a year or so, plus Covid. It will be nice to have a trundle around and will be first one on the calender!
