I do but not very well at present - funny you should make the comment I've had several days off recently with a eye infection - thought that I had it sorted when it flared back up again so really I've been on a go slow for the past few weeks

Panels went into primer this morning
Then spent some time this afternoon polishing the offside of the bonnet panel - note the tape on the vent & bulkhead edges to prevent polishing through the paint edges
Still a work in progress but on its way - more tomorrow

Not again, doesn't sound much fun. Fingers crossed it disappears soon.

Indeed but, not going to lie, your 'go slow' is my Usain Bolt!

cheers and get better soon
Yes, same here. I can't really do anything at the moment because of the temperature, but even when I can, I don't make anything like this much progress. I've got quite a large shed, which is great for most things except trying to heat it in weather like this.

My garage isn't huge - about 16' X 16' and I have 2 small heaters that just take the edge off. But just figuring things out takes so long and I swear I have to do everything three times to get it right. OTOH it isn't my bread and butter so I suppose I can take as long as I want. Still in awe of the grumpster though.

Garth managed to get a trip over today to drop off various items that will be required imminently for fitting the car back up
A fair bundle of stuff that he has been refurbishing / cleaning / retrimming & storing
He had one of his contacts arrange to mill the welds off so that the rims & centres could be split - then reset true & welded back up which has resolved the 2 rims that way out of tolerance

There is 2 great advantages of living in OZ where i do.
No snow No salt. I could not imagine haveing to use a heater in the workshop. Even in the depths of winter here when it does get COLD and we can have a south westerly blowing 50kph straight off the south pole for weeks at a time i can still work in there with no heat.

Its minus 2 degrees here - hard overnight frost - the heater gets left on a low thermostatic tickover - overnight - that way everything stays dry - no condensation - no rust or paint separation problems and I can just get to work rather than having the heater put the electricity meter into orbit whilst I find excuses to do nothing because its too cold

Garth has recovered the doorcards - cracking job too - we managed to source a better colour match to that of the seat too which he had recovered several years ago
However new map pockets needed to be made up
Sharon was soon on the case
I just need to fit them to the door cards
Meanwhile in the workshop
The primed panels were all wet flatted
And these are all ready for putting into final colour tomorrow
Rebuilt column gearchange has now been refitted (needs to go in before the steering column)
I now need to undertake a minor modification on the toe board of the bulkhead in order to fit the steering column - more tomorrow

The loose panels were placed into final colour today
It was minus 3 outside so I have been boosting the workshop temperature up to ensure that paint cured correctly
On top of the oil filled radiator that maintains a background temperature in the workshop - I also have a couple infra red panel heaters which are ideal for circumstances like this
The bulkhead has had the toe board replaced as part of the restoration - the steering column UJ which is a modification was fouling against the aperture in the toe board - I manged to open this out with careful use of the power file - I will just have to paint in the edge of the aperture that is now bare metal
With the UJ fitted to the rack - the steering column could now also be fitted

Was up until yesterday still getting plagued with a reoccurring eye infection which has slowed progress but it now appears to have sorted its self out
Back on with some progress then - OSR wing loosely bolted back on (it has to come back off to fit the new wing piping) - bolting the wing back onto the car is the best way of holding the panel firmly whilst its flatted & polished - Note the masking tape to protect the already polished rear shroud / rear quarter panel
All ready for polishing in the morning
Sometimes it doesn't always go as planned with paint - I had started to flat & polish the bonnet but there were some defect areas that I just wasn't happy with - To cut to the chase I decided to prep & repaint it at my cost - My standards & ethos just wont let anything out of the door unless I'm happy with it

Offside rear wing completed to first stage polish
Offside of bonnet flatted
Then first stage polished
Then fitted the offside front wing to hold it in situ whilst it was flatted & first stage polished
Pics with the wheels masked are staged for images that I needed to take - I write the restoration roundup - bimonthly for the clubs magazine and I wanted to include pics at the latest stage - Editorial deadline for my submission is this evening hence me wanting to get to this stage
So that's all of the offside now flatted & first stage polished
The bonnet lift struts which are spring assisted are keeping the bonnet high when its in the closed position - therefore the wing aperture gaps at the bottom are slightly overwide
There is no adjustment on the struts so I may well end altering / lowering the bottom pivot point of the strut - however these are welded to the chassis much fun !
Could you not tweak / fettle / slot the tops of the struts or the frame to like effect?
I could but its probably a welding / grinding job close to completed panel / paintwork - the bottom brackets are just painted black and are out of the way of doing any damage to vulnerable areas
