Love this van - a lesson in how to "do" a period look.
I've never had coil springs on any of my old Minis so would be interested in hearing the pitfalls. Is it possibly due to lack of weight in the rear, or something else?
They used rubber cones because they give rising rate ‘springing’.
If you loaded up a standard Mini with four people and luggage and if it had normal springs it would be on the bump stops before you set off. This doesn’t happen with the rubber. Issigonis and Moulton knew what they were doing.
The biggest problem with this van is having seen it in the flesh so to speak is it's so dam small compared to how the pictures make it look and the pictures don't do it justice it is such an attractive looker, very very nice all round.
Well done Mark
Thanks Pete who'd of thought an the old ratty van has become what they are today..I will hopefully be over be over Saturday ..cheers..
That just shows what a superb job you've done and that everything is doable with a bit of time and patience.
Yours doesn't help my thinking that I might need to scratch the mini itch one day, especially as I appear to have a ton of spares already from my dads old cars including an 1100 lump with uprated box. Apparently it was rather 'spritely' in the 'traffic light grand prix', his words not mine

Thanks for your approval..time is indeed a massive part of restoring a car ..also having the tools makes a big difference as struggling will soon get boring and become all to easy to go indoors..I allowed 3 hrs most evenings and a decent chunk of the weekends ..liitle and often will soon see rewards and each glimmer of progress will help keep the enthusiasm to carry on..On the subject of engines here is mine ..
Looks superb, Ive never owned a Mini but the availability of so many panels/parts does make it seem appealing!!
Thanks gtv as restoring minis goes there is pretty much nothing you carnt get..as with a lot of repro panels they can be a tad iffy with fit..but with tic they can be made to fit well..whereas a lot of classics panel availability is slim/costly and have to be made which takes its toll on projects so must grumble
I love this mini since I saw it on Instagram, you've done an amazing job of it.
Thanks Jim appreciate it..missed out on show season because of the obvious so just done a few local car meets even though they have dried up..Hopefully try to get some decent pictures before the weather changes...One from the weekend as the light was going..
