She is I believe solid…. But now I have all the bits that I don’t know how to do or the bits I don’t know that I have to do left to do. You know those bits you leave because you can’t do them 🤣🤣🤣 then all that’s on the list is the bits that you can’t do. 🫣🤦🏽♀️
She has lead where there should not be lead. 😬
Lord knows if I can cover up the fact that there is not a part on the car that has not had to be welded back together. Is it even good enough to get painted or do I need to cut more out? 😔
To sand blast or to not sand blast that is the question?
Do I paint her myself or is that just asking for trouble… getting the paint wrong could be the worst thing I do but hey I would know how to fix any mistakes🤣🤣🤣

So lets just break it down into sections but first all that it needs is a comprehensive overview of what's left to undertake - once listed you can split this out into welding / body preparation / trial fitting / mechanical / interior etc and once identified it can be split out further such as each body panel - door, wing etc & engine, gearbox
This will create a huge list but split down into the various sections it doesn't become so daunting but the first thing is to start the jobs list - some will be obvious & others may require a second pair of eyes
Lead was used as body filler for repairing impact damaged areas long before polyester / chemically cured body filler was invented - hence I wouldn't worry about it unless a previous owner has attempted to make structural repairs with lead / body solder
Additional welding works / or acceptable standards - needs a trained pair of eyes / overview - I can assist when I'm up at your place in October
Blasting - it all depends on how poor the surface areas are - Its a messy process and can create more damage than it cures - again I'll advise when I see the car
Painting - Absolutely no reason why you cant paint the car yourself after all you have most of the facilities on site - but start small - undertake a loose panel - then another - this in turn will give you the confidence to tackle larger areas / bodyshell
Colour is a matter of choice - A35's look great in pastel shades - I would avoid a bold colour that states that the colour choice hasn't really been the subject of a thought process
Start with the jobs list - leave room to tick off each job on completion
As for paint, stay away from the concours style hi-gloss paintjobs. A satin/eggshell finish in an old english white would look great. Like an oily rag finish on a very old car. Don't try and make it look new, make it look lived in. Especialy if it has lived a 1000 lives already
I can't add much to the above apart from to stay - Stick with it, it'll be worth it when it's done! I love A35's, yours will be lovely. Rostyles look great, and as others have said a pastel colour always seems to work well on these. Speedwell Blue for me please!

will there be gin when the list is formed? I fear it will be long.......

They do look good dont they.... more by luck than judgment they came with the car.

The court grey is nice but white or black is on the list but then so is something crazy and fun...
I have more than enough time to think about colours thankfully I'm a slow worker. Too busy cuddling the dog.
I always thought white reflected the light well so you didn't see as many imperfections, I know on Mel's old Supra you couldn't even look at it in the sunshine without sunglasses on. It looked incredible even though it was slightly tatty.

White or strong white base will hide a multitude of sins on a car - but if its a dog it will still look like a dog no matter what colour you paint it - poor preparation / panel alignment / poor masking / paint application / trim fit will all contribute to the quality of the finish - On a restoration of this size the difference in a poor quality finish vs a nice quality finish is approx 40 hours labour - It bugs me that classic owners go a lot of time & trouble to get close to the finish line then rush at the last hurdle - Inevitably this results in a poor quality presentation - You have made a cracking job of the work so far and just need some indicators of what / how to proceed next - set some realistic targets and you'll have something to be very proud of upon completion.
Speedwell blue has been a bit overdone and become commonplace, Ivory would look good but Florida Green & Kingfisher blue would also look equally spiffing - how about one of the latter 2 colours with a Ivory roof ?

That is not a bad shout. Anyone know anyone with a kingfisher blue I can see in the flesh. I was thinking of a black and white Union Jack on the roof but then thought about how long that would take 🤣🤣🤣🤣
