After the shows absence due to the pandemic the show returns - this is the big end of year show held over 3 days in the vast halls of the NEC in Birmingham - its a little over a week away 12th - 14th November
3,000 cars - 250 clubs - endless exhibitors / exhibitions / trade stands etc - Besides the cars I use the show to visit several of my suppliers & clients alongside supporting the Jowett Car Club stand (Hall 4 - Stand 890) - I also have a shopping list of stuff required for the workshop - tools / sundries etc
Myself & toomanyprojects are meeting up on Friday 12th at the show if anyone is about at the show on that day and would like to put a name to a face / join us for a coffee / lunch then by all means just PM one of us - for those not attending watch this space for some pics after the show
I also prioritise the autojumble and then look around the cars if I get chance. I like to catch up with some of the guys in my club as they're largely based in the south, so that's pretty much the only club stand I make a point of getting to. I'm hoping it's not going to be empty this year. Not sure which day I'm going, but it'll be either of the weekend days so unfortunately won't be able to pop along and see you guys.
Pics please for those of us that can only attend vicariously.
thanks
We will endeavour to get snap happy in between the bouts of retail therapy
thanks - and I gather there is club representation there as well - as interested in projects and interesting kit as completed cars (Cars I can see anywhere)
Quick show report, It was quiet, probably about 50% down on pre covid days, but it was all the better for it. Easy to get in, easy to get round and easy to see all of the exhibits. Parking was easy, with a 3 min walk to the front door, quick covid passport / neg test / double jab thingy then in to the exhibition via security. Lots of superb car display areas, plenty of auto jumble tables and a few car sales. Food and drink were easy to get as most places were quiet and the toilets were clean and easy to access. The only slightly strange thing was the lack of crowds mean that people can use electric wheelchairs in the main aisle, nothing wrong with that, but you do need to be aware they arrive quite rapidly sometimes. Overall a fantastic show, the Jowett stand was well manned and there were some superb cars on display. If you have been sitting on the fence about going I would strongly recommend a visit, it may never be this good again.

Myself & Sam (toomanyprojects ) were also there yesterday - quite well spaced out from previous years and it was nice to be able to get about a little more freely than normal - I did notice that quite a few of the regular trade exhibitors that I would have paid a visit to were absent from the show - just downloading my pics now - I'll post some of them here but others can be found amongst the various other threads on the forum
Thought it very bad form that R tech welding weren’t there. They have definitely reaped the benefits from being there in the past….
R Tech, CJ Autos, Seeley Tools and loads more of the regular suppliers / trade stands were all absent from the show yet amazingly the bloke with the stand that demonstrates sets of drills that you can never blunt always but always turns up at these shows

A good number of Healeys were displayed
This one with a revised / custom grille
But owners are getting bold with cars appearing in a range of modern style / non factory colours - note the louvered bonnet & front wings on this one too

I dont know the up to date prices but I guess its got something the do with the £350.00 per sq/mtr charge for exhibition floor space, I know it comes off your tax but its still a lot of dosh

If Mr Betty Bull$hit drills can afford it,they definitely can too…. Its a no brainier when it comes to the tax benefit…

The number of exhibitors that turn up at these shows and expect to cover all their costs / sell out of everything that they take etc are clearly not capable of thinking / planning or understanding a business - Whilst a small number of the exhibitors will achieve strong sales and more than cover their costs but for the majority its very much a different approach - whilst they will make some sales in the main its about PR & marketing, lots of people will place orders at a later date especially if its a big ticket item - car clubs wont have doves of owners signing up to join either but it serves to display & exhibit the cars, talk to like minded owners & welcome those that are either already members of the club or potential future members

Few pics from me that hopefully won't duplicate with Chris'. Nice to catch up with crouchieb too, I think there may be some SS1 updates on the horizon.
As Chris has mentioned, there is something for everyone the show, well unless you wanted a new tig from R-Tech , that said it was probably a good thing as I spent my pocket money today on some bits for the Celica instead... more on that over there in due course.
So where was I? ah yes... pics
A very Red XJ to start
One for the paint jobs thread
The show also provides a great opportunity for research, namely what is stock, what can be improved upon. Here grumpynorthener is in full inspection mode for the GT project having spotted this GTV8 for sale on one of the dealer stands. Yours for £32.5k... more £25K in my view with the few things I spotted on the body but the interior was nicely done.
Have another Healey
E-type Jag in an interesting green... Not 100% on that one
There are of course also some rather lovely bits of historic machinery on show
A proper Cobra, look closely and you'll just make out the signature of a certain Mr Shelby, I couldn't get close to this one due to the crowd around it
In addition to the usual stalls and dealer stands, there is also a large auction taking place over the entire weekend with some rather lovely lots for sale
And this year, due to the aforementioned notable absentees, there were a number of 'fill-in' cars dotted about the show as part of the Lancaster Insurance 'Display'
Lastly, well for now, a real favourite amongst this group of attendees, an early Stanley Steamer
I've just come back from the show, it was pretty good but as noted above, some significant trade stands missing. I wonder (and hope) that maybe it's because they didn't want to commit if there was a chance it might be called off at short notice. I hope it doesn't signify that the show is diminishing.
Had a nice chat with some people from my Vauxhall club who I don't see very often.
