Link not working but i assume we are talking about Lord Noddy of Holder? Thats going to be a massive money pit but for each one that disintegrates or ends up on the oval , it must drive values up?
Reset the link for you - yep he's your man the one with the glammed up stove pipe hat and you are correct on the values too early low mileage cars with history are now £20 - £40k
It wants a lot of work - especially when you look at that offside rear wheelarch loaded with filler (you can bet that the nearside is the same if not worse under that grey primer) - the brakes alone on these can be the subject of eyewatering expenditure on each corner yet alone collectively - none the less its restorable - no real hard evidence of its claimed provenance and if its true its hardly going to add any significant value (much as I value Mr Holder's talents) - Given the mountain that you would have to climb and more to the point the amount of expenditure you would have to throw at it before it sees the road again - leaves me thinking that the vendors £4k asking price is somewhat ambitious (half of that in my book but then again at £2k you could strip it for parts and make money and the car deserves much better than that)

Always liked these
And this would fit the bill - Plenty of grunt in that straight 6, plenty of load space - its a 'S' & has the overdrive box & power steering - however I'm going to be real picky - its in a metallic paint finish and I'm unsure if this was original (would look much better in a Tahiti or Pageant blue solid colour) but the killer for me is the glass sunroof - that's a forget it as far as I'm concerned

Very pretty cars, particularly the estates IMHO, and that's far from daft money for a manual OD 2500S - agree the colour and roof not ideal, but probably half the price than if they were
A friend of Dad's had one in the early 70's with a Stag V8 (reputed to be some form of factory experimental prototype) and got nabbed at 100mph - quite some speed then - on the M5, which led to a ban then sale of the car due to consequent insurance difficulties

I went all over the South-West of Éire in my uncle's 2000 estate circa 1980. We were about the only car on the road I think as everyone was on cycles or horses. I would claim the car never missed a beat but we bought some dodgy petrol at a pub in the sticks and it was pinking like hell until our next fill-up.
These do indeed make for a very handsome estate. You don't see them advertised often in decent condition. I could forgive the (period) glass sunroof and rip out those stupid seats whilst wondering if the roof could be cut right for a full length folding sunroof to dispense with the glass one. These were strong engines, this is a very late example, I can't imagine a car better suited to hauling a '70s caravan.

1980 Mk1 Astra 1.3GL
This looks like a very tidy Mk1 Astra - 42,000 miles - very clean - nothing overly alarming in the MOT history which backs the low mileage - However its now out of MOT but in less than 6 months time its MOT & tax exempt - In my opinion its very fairly priced at £3,250 with a selection of NOS parts in the boot - when did you last see one - This would be £5k + on a classic dealers forecourt with a years MOT on it

1995 Toyota Camry
3 Litre V6 Auto - very clean / tidy - realistic MOT history which verifies the mileage of 96,000 - very short MOT though - expires on the 18th Dec - wait until the 19th then turn up with a trailer & £1k - currently asking £1,800 - cant be many of these about in this condition now

This received my attention as soon as I caught sight of it: 1939 Alalanta V12 4.3 litre - one of 26 ever built - looks superb in my book and fitted with a Lincoln V12 - British built too in Surrey - no idea on what they want for it but it wont be cheap - but certainly one that I would add to my dream collection - you can bet that the V12 sounds nothing less than glorious

So talking of a dream collection this has just appeared for sale
1912 Talbot 12hp Sports - probably one of nicest & prettiest Edwardian sports tourers I've seen in long time - POA so no idea what ££ they want for it but it will be no means cheap in the slightest
Spotted it about an hour ago - top money in my book but its not far from being a top car bar some minor paintwork that is described in the ad - thing is its NOT minor paintwork when you talking a gold metallic - the damage may well be minor but you could end up painting down the side of the car to get the colour match correct - too expensive currently but it will probably sell none the less - £2750 ish and I'd be there to collect it
Mmmmmmm....if its such minor damage to the N/S , why not show it in the listing. As you say Chris , if its beyond pdr and a cut & polish , its a full side repaint. Who would ever have thought that a boggo pov spec polo would become a really desirable little classic though!

Pete - They are starting to run - has MkX pointed out the MK1 has more retro style about it than the Mk2 - don't know why but I fancied a little runabout for the business - I blame that johnthesparky bloke - I painted his retro van and it set me looking but vans are bonkers money and I wont run a Ford so the field is narrowed - then started looking at estates and the little Polo has appeal - the one above is probably too good for what I'd use it for to be honest - lets see where it goes - its not that far from me and if it lingers through the hols I might throw a bid that way

You may recall I flagged up a selection of breadvans a couple of months ago, several of these were on with dealers at top dollar. They all sold pretty quickly. These are becoming increasingly sought after classics. Even at the precipice of an economic depression and with Christmas around the corner I suspect this example won't be around for long. Yes it's strong money and it's not perfect but I would see this as a car that could be turned into a mint example in the right hands. You're quite right, metallics are notoriously difficult to match and you could well end up with one panel looking glaringly mis-matched. Would a good quality full respray add enough value to justify the expense? Possibly - you'd just need to get her good enough to take one concours cup.

We had a number of early VW Polos / Golfs in the family and they were head & shoulders above the Ford, BL & Vauxhall offerings of the time in terms of engineering, build quality and corrosion resistance. As someone whose primary interest is in fully loaded luxobarges it took me a long time to appreciate their merits. A lot of VW fanatics 'got' them from the outset. A good example is a realistic prospect as a daily and 'pov spec' means far less to go wrong. Most of the examples still around will not have the cosseted history and low miles that this example has.
My great-uncle had a Polo II, it passed to my father then sister then brother. As a 25+ year old car my brother left it parked up at dockside while he was at sea for an extended period, he didn't return to the car for 18 months but found it started on the first turn of the key. It went through 3 generations of the family and never let anyone down.
I think with environmental considerations the newest generation of classic enthusiasts will gravitate more towards cars that return 35mpg than those which return 20mpg.
I could very happily run that...less is more in my eyes these days. The only 2 concessions i wil give to modern comforts are remote locking (i dont like getting wet) and a lights on alarm (not crazy on flat batteries).
