It reminded me of my Dad's experience when he was a teenager in the late '50s, he took his BSA to Newport for some work but when he returned to collect it they'd been unable to complete the work and the bike wasn't running. The garage owner, Arthur, said "You'll have to borrow my bike lad and collect yours tomorrow!" Arthur's ride was an SS80. His enduring memory on his way home is of powering up a hill at 80 mph with a leisurely 'thoonk-thoonk thoonk-thoonk thoonk-thoonk' from the 1 litre V-twin.
