Since the age of 25 whereby I could afford the insurance - I have always had a V8 in something - you just cant beat them regardless of the fuel consumption for the smiles per miles factor - loads of grunt and the soundtrack - just weighing up the odds of replacing the P38 with a newer Rangey for the business tow car / hack - loads of reasonably priced V6 oil burners about - in fact many bargains currently in the Range Rover market - cant bring myself to own one though - nope its going have to be a full fat V8 petrol motor - possibly the supercharged one at that
Only one thing (well, two better than a V8...
Grumpy, stay away from anything with a 2.7 or 3.0 lion engine from Land Rover, absolute disaster of an engine that is guaranteed to either snap its crankshaft or eat a main bearing. Stick to a petrol but make sure the timing chain has been updated.

Ended up with a low mileage / low owner TDV8 Sport - Petrol is now out of the question for a tow vehicle even if its only used a few times a month

Ahh the 3.6? Got a nice lumpy v8 note to it, just make sure when doing an oil change you fit the filter into the engine locating the nipple in the hole then put the cap over the top. If you put the filter into the cap the nipple may not locate and causes low oil pressure and engine damage. Any other info/ tips you need just PM me
Just to keep the DNA largely intact tbf - most of what we've done, and certainly all the lumpy bits, is 'of the era' / Ford - she'd work well with for example an SL55 lump, but she'd be a Frankenstein bitsa & it wouldn't feel right
Love her with a BBF heart, and it suits the purpose well
Hopefully more progress over Christmas, though it feels like every time the dog & rabbit make eye contact C19 whistles in to rain on our parade...
