Right.. So.. Enough of this silly turbo fiat nonsense for a few minutes.. Metalshapes capri has given me the inspiration to show off mine.. Its way less cooler than his though.. Like seriously.. That car is cooler than a penguin in a freezer eating an ice pop.. Someday I will have a v8.. (I do have a v8 but currently not in a car..) what was I talking about again? Oh yeah.. My capri.. Its large weldathon.. Smelly pinto (now a very nice pinto).. And general snails pace with progress because of reasons. π.. I've started working on it again so I think it's time I got a thread up.. Back in 2007 I was 18, single, had hair, could afford petrol.. And I always wanted a capri. My mum said for my 18th she would make a deal with me.. She wanted me off my motorbike so she would buy me a car for my birthday.. Rules were simple.. Sub a grand and other than that it could be any car I wanted.. When I arrived home with a rusty non runner on the trailer she knew she'd been had but by then it was too late.. I tidied it up.. Got a coat of paint thrown on it, rebuilt the brakes and smoked it around until the pinto went bang.. By that stage I was about 20 and my wages were a little better so instead of repairing the pinto again (it went bang a few times and I just kept replacing whatever was broken at any one time and getting it back on the road) I got a 205 block. Got a 0.060 over bore done decked the block and flowed the head with bigger inlet valves and 3 angle seats, a piper 285 cam and a set of weber 45s and a lightened flywheel.. All was good in my world and I had 160 bhp of pinto.. I like pintos.. They're heavy and lazy and thirsty and indestructible in standard form.. But a few mods wakes them up.. Aaanyway this then meant I needed brakes and stiffer suspension and actual tyres.. Duly sorted the car done another 4 years daily service.. Unfortunately the Irish weather.. My right foot and cornering forces all conspired against the poor old thing's bodyshell.. The rust bubbles really started to show.. And I reluctantly took my old friend off t Road for some much needed tlc.. That was 5 years ago.. A lot has happened.. A lot more needs to happen.. But I'm back on it and will document it here
