My aunt died recently leaving an Austin 1300 Automatic. The original registration document, which I have, shows that she bought the car new in 1972. She didn't drive it after 1973 or 1974, since when it was locked in her Surrey garage. The mileage appears to be 13,449.
Is there any market for non-running cars such as this? Any buyer would probably need to collect it.
I have attached some photos.
Are you kidding, if that's as good as it's mileage would suggest they should be queueing around the block.

There is a ready market for the car - the fact that its low mileage is in its favour but the fact that its a automatic will hold it back slightly - depends upon your expectations really - I'm quite happy to advise / assist should you wish - Chris
Definitely a market for low-mileage one owner cars.
If you can drag it out and get some good pictures, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised at the value. True an Austin automatic isn't the most desirable or valuable variant, but low mileage and one owner runs in its favour.
Advertised unwashed as a barn find will see it going for 50% more

I realize that this side of the pond is very very different from there vis a vis manual transmissions. Here fewer and fewer can drive stick. Combine that with this being the exact sort of car that the next generation wants to buy - hipsters seem to gravitate to sedans and wagons - and it might be that an automatic is an asset. Here it likely would be.
The G-suffix Austin 1300 Mk II at H and H in Buxton yesterday bid up to £4600 provisional, we didn't stay long enough to see if the bid was accepted. Didn't look terrible on a cursory look around it, had a rear wash/wipe which is unusual and presumably an aftermarket fit.

1968 Austin 1100 - 4 door - manual - 68,000 miles - looks ok in the images and its priced cheaply at £3,200 - However it comes with a string of faults in a non original colour which appears to be hiding lots of filler on the door skins etc - Cat C insurance claim at some stage in its life too - Its presented clean enough but personally its one that I would avoid
Went to view this Mg 1300 today that’s advertised on eBay in Wakefield that was recently bought at Mathewsons auction and was posted on here few posts ago. Sadly nothing like the owner says it is - his idea of mint and perfect and mine are worlds apart. Nice interior though.

Paul - Unfortunately vendors are only too glib with words to describe the vehicles that they have on the market - such words which rarely emanated from the world of dealers today appears in virtually every private vendors advertisement when in reality its only a tiny fraction of the vendors & vehicles that are marketed are truly 'Has Described' - I just hope that your long retained patience is rewarded at some stage with something close to what you are seeking

They say those things come to those who wait. I’m certainly doing that. Just keep looking.

1963 Morris 1100 - manual - 4 door - Very smart, low mileage & early car - well presented but I can see paint shading differences on the front doors - other than that its lovely but the dealer is asking a strongish £8k
+2 · 16 June at 12:41 · HERE is my 1968 MG 1300 Mark II 2-door. A very early example of the 2-door 1300cc twin-carb as you can tell by the earlier style dash. These 2-door MGs are rarely offered for sale these days and this little gem is a delight. The speedo shows just 37,000 miles and I would imagine that there is every chance of that being correct judging by the car's interior which is clearly original apart from a recent new carpet set. She drives as she should with the 1275cc unit and feels fit and healthy with good oil pressure. She is so pretty in her original shade of Connaught Green. Only one or two minor paint imperfections are present but they do not detract from her overall beauty. A few years ago, prior to being laid up, she was treated to a new sub frame and a stainless steel exhaust. My classic cars are motoring antiques. Please do not confuse them with your one-year-old Range Rover. This car, for example, is 54-years-old and so will have quirks and faults in there somewhere. These are not always apparent when buying and selling classics which is what I do. I do not restore them, nor do I pretend that they are concours cars. The majority of them go out as they came in, and I continue to enjoy finding more - a skill which is becoming increasingly difficult as many of you will be aware. They deserve to be taken on as "family pets" and cared for through thick and then. They don't make them any more and demand now out-strips supply. Please bear all this in mind, and enjoy your classic car. I can also assist with delivery and so please ask for a quote. Thanks, Martin. 07595-020282.
