The one advantage to Florida (pre Covid) - and living 45 minutes from Disney and about the same from the beach - EVERYBODY came to visit - we found friends and family we never even knew we had.
That's what you get when choose to reside in a popular place - When myself & Mrs GN got together we purchased a flat in central London - now Mrs GN is of Canadian descent and so many friends of hers came to stay with us that I was contemplating in applying to the Canadian Embassy for a grant in order to undertake the loft conversion and create more space

Now that you mention it, I think Mrs GN might be a long lost relative - necessitating both hospitality and favourable shop rates (of course)

Now well off topic but just as an aside we are heading out your way this summer for a catch up with the relatives

Group trip?!
Ideally I'd like to spend 8 - 10 weeks across Canada / States but this time its a quick 10 - 12 day trip into Ontario then over to Wisconsin to see family - so just a short trip due Mrs GN's film work commitments - hopefully next time I'll stage it over a good few months to ensure that I get to see the motor related stuff that I have on my list

whereabouts and when? We are 10 minutes from Pearson airport.
End of July / Early August - we fly into Toronto then head to London - over to Wisconsin / Chicago then should have a few days at the end of the trip back in Toronto - once I have the firm dates l/ schedule from Mrs GN - I'll pm you

sounds great - there might be the opportunity for a beverage. (and of course given the speed at which you work it should be a doddle to get the Austin sorted before you leave.)
Well we've hopefully found somewhere to rent for 4 or 5 months down in Alexander Headlands which is about half an hours drive from Noosa where we are now. Fingers crossed.

seriously, it would be lovely to connect
cheers
Ah - Just what I need, a pic to show Mrs GN what awaits me upon my arrival in Canada - Many thanks JP - that should be a good enough reason for her to leave me at home whilst she does the visiting relatives thing

Good news. Hope that works out for you. Close to Mountain Creek where my daughter is and Mooloolaba beach. I am looking to go there for maybe 6 weeks late November and stay for Xmas. Having Xmas day on the beach with my grandchildren will be special. Just need to disappear before my ex wife arrives in January. Hopefully there might be an old car meet/show while I am there.

Yes it's very close by to those places. We're going to be about a 700m walk to the beach but crucially even closer to the local brewery. That should be a good trip for you Ray and the weather will hopefully be great. It'll certainly be better than being at home that's for sure. You'll be amazed at how many old cars you see driving about at weekends. I probably only capture 50% of what I see.
It's initially on a 3 month lease then on a month by month so we'll see how life goes. It's fully furnished and costs an arm and a leg. Got 2 weeks to settle in before the sister-in-law and family come. I'm sure the wife will be very emotional when it comes to it.
The nice weather has finally arrived so popped down to the seafront for a bit and a beer at the Surf LifeSavers. There was this nice original Chevy parked up in the car park.
All free parking too which seems to be the same all up and down the Queensland coast. Not like Sydney where it's a fortune to park up anywhere.
As an added bonus i've found a shortcut which reduces the walk to the local brewery down to a few minutes. 10 Toes Brewery which means they're not from Mansfield or it'd be 12 Toes.
Reminds me of the night sky glow over Staveley Coking Works - probably doesn't smell as bad where you are though
That was a chemical works at Staveley. I lived at the bottom of Brimington so we used to get the siren sounding every year in case they had a big leak. There were a few blokes died over the years down there. My dad worked in the foundry at the British Steel plant opposite it for a fair few years. It's all gone now.
There was the big Coalite coking plant at Bolsover and The Avenue coking plant at Wingerworth. They're both gone too.
