We've been based down in the CBD so not had any classic action. However, we popped up to Mullaloo on Saturday and then dropped down to Cottesloe for fish n chips whilst watching the sunset. Chippy was packed and we had to wait half an hour for them. Loads of old metal was out enjoying the cooler afternoon/evening air so I got a few snaps.
It was ANZAC Day yesterday so we went out to watch the parade which was good. At the end there were a few Willys jeeps and an Austin Champ but they turned off just before us. Fortunately the turn off was too tight for this majestic old thing.
Nice. My eldest daughter and family emigrated to the Sunshine Coast (Mountain Creek) in January. (I am hoping to go for at least 4 weeks in November or December) They all went to the ANZAC ceremony on Monday down at the beach (probably Mooloolaba beach) and said it was quite as experience, especially for the kids.

We're heading back East at the weekend to Sydney for a few weeks and then heading North to Brisbane to pick the wife's sister and family up at the airport before heading up to the Sunshine Coast where we are hoping to rent somewhere for 6 months. Nice temps up there over the winter. Mooloolaba is a lovely spot.
Dropped the hire car off and decided to walk it the 5 miles back. Saw these 2 Holden Geminis parked up which look remarkably similar to a mk1 Astra saloon and a Chevette saloon.
These should definitely be my last ones from Perth. Possibly.
I suspect it is buried in the thread somewhere but what exactly heinous crime did you commit that you were banished to OZ?
The wife was working for the European arm of a US medtech firm and was asked to go out to Bangkok to do a presentation to the Asia Pacific bunch. Whilst she was there she got talking to the GM of Australia and happened to mention she'd love to work in Australia again. She had been a nurse out here 20+ years ago. He said they needed a good marketeer in Australia and then 4 months later we were off. It was fortunate that i'd just been made redundant from a job i'd been in 24 years so had a nice cheque in the bank to help us along too.
It's funny as her boss in Europe was a right cranky bugger but she knew how to handle him and there was a lot of mutual respect between them. However he got the right hump when she told him and it took him about 18 months before he would reply to any messages. He did say in the end that if she wanted to work with him again she would be made welcome.
The company she worked for has just been bought out by another US medtech firm so it's all a bit up in the air right now. We should find out in July if we can go for Permanent Residency but the way the wife is feeling about her job right now I don't think we'll stick it out.
Hope you can find somewhere to live. My daughter and family moved out in January which was over 2 years since they had sold everything and were ready to go but then covid stopped that happening. So in January they flew out and took a holiday let for 3 weeks while they looked for a house but they are in very short supply and get snapped up quickly. They viewed one they liked and put in an offer for more than the asking price but were told they were outbid by a considerable margin. They eventually got a nice 4 bed house in Mountain Creek just by being in the right place at the right time but it is costing something like $650. I thought that's good until they told me that is per week and not per month.
Hope you find something ok but I think you need to make contact with as many letting agents as you can and keep pestering them.

Thanks. Interesting. Mrs JP and I spent almost 5 years in Florida - and were happy to be back home. (figured if we were going to have to receive cr*p it might as well be near people we love.) Can't stand Canadian winters - yet very glad not to be that country right now - important to be here near friends and family and still grateful for the adventure.

We’ve got a few viewings in place so hopefully one of them fits the bill. The cost of renting out here is ridiculous. We were paying $600 a week for a 2 bedroom apartment in Sydney so you do get a bit more for your money up here. We did go and actually look at one in Mountain Creek. It’s all very nice along this coastline.

Thanks again and back to the pics!
The wife hates the cold so not much chance of us going through a Canadian winter. She didn’t even like a Sydney winter. We’ve not had any family or friends come out due to Covid but the wife’s sister and family are coming in about 5 weeks so it’ll be nice to see some familiar faces at last. Well hopefully be in a place by then.

The one advantage to Florida (pre Covid) - and living 45 minutes from Disney and about the same from the beach - EVERYBODY came to visit - we found friends and family we never even knew we had.
