Bought last week for the princely sum of Β£900, it might look a bit of a wreck but it is solid underneath.
Well I would add pictures but it only let's load up to 2mb and I have no idea how to make them less than that
What are you posting from? Pc or Apple product? We do have a couple of photo posting guides, Apple coming soon π
From an android phone. There's no option to add photos on the mobile site so you have to use the desktop site to upload. It limits your photo size to 2mb. Not sure how to get around it at the minute π€
Anyway the above pics show what I've gone and bought. It was and still is in places, incredibly dirty, having sat in a barn since 2007.
It's missing a dash gauge cluster, radiator, seat back and a few other bits as it's been raided for parts over the years. It'll need a full recomission and a respray to see the road again.
Ill be starting with the underneath where I'll be dropping the subframes and suspension and rebuilding and repainting
To be fair for its first couple of hours I'm surprised this forum is working as well as it is.
Yeah it needs a bit of polishing for phone users etc but it is working without any glitches as far as I can tell so credit where credits due
Oh and the 5 cylinder audis are a favourite of mine, I've no chance of affording a UR quattro coupe but the 100 is pretty much just it's big brother mechanically

There are a couple of very nice Audiβs due on board soon. π Thank you for your positive comments, we are as surprised as you are π€£π€£. No, not really, our five year old computer geeks have been working overtime π

my slightly shonky guide should help , unfortunately proboards do make it a bit of a faff and not having the image option in mobile version is a real pain.
I recall seeing one of these when they were new, outside one of rhe posh houses i went to on a paperround π
As it was early morning i could have a bit if a nose round and look at how they had solved problems like making the windows so flush. Then i saw the quattro text in the heated window element and loving the detail in the while car.
Hope you can get this back up to scratch and document the progress here π

I never noticed them when I was younger, probably because we'd always had ford's and I was obsessed with cosworth.
They're old looking cars compared to the ford's I grew up around as well, they're a bit boxy for their age, sit really high and have tiny wheels.
It's the stuff you don't notice at first I like about them though. The quattro text in the heating element, the flush fitting windows, the fact that all the chrome effect trim is actually metal instead of plastic, even the interior door trim strips are stainless steel. The sunstrip on the windscreen is cool too and I like the fact they were galvanised, well under sealed and waxed from the factory. I think mechanically they were behind the times though in some areas. The cylinder head is only 2 valves per cylinder and reverse flow, it doesn't have EFI, it has vacuum central locking and diff lock instead of electronic, the engine bay layout is incredibly poor. They're a bit of a marmite car, really good in some areas and poor in others but I suppose that gives it character.
Plans for this one are to swap a few bits over from my other one like the v8 tail lights, 200 front splitter and Chipped ecu. I'll also lower it, fit 200 headlights, front bumper and grill and bigger wheels. Oh and I really want to paint it in Audi pearl white (PERLMUTTWEISS) paint code LOA9. All easily reversible but makes the thing look a lot less ungainly and more like a s1 quattro coupe's big brother
i had the pleasure of driving a new 100 (CD?) in '87ish , it was like something from another planet , so smooth and freakishly quiet. these really have aged well as a design.
I may as well include my other audi in this thread, a 100 turbo auto.
Long story short I've had this a year, it's low mileage and in good condition and with a nice spec inside. My plans were to keep it and eventually convert it to a manual box. While it looked good it was a bit sloppy in the handling department and the front brakes were warped.Β
A few months ago now on e of the brake pads separated from the li er. I thought it was the front and started removing the calipers only to find OK looking part worn pads at which point I realised it was the rear.Β
I thought I may as well strip and rebuild the front undercarriage as it was all in need of rebushing and refurbishing. This the led to me starting the gearbox conversion and I had 90% of the bits needed to do the swap.
The the white one turned up and I made the decision to buy that and sell this one.Β
So I need to get it put back together and sold
All the underside components have been stripped and painted. I'm just waiting on some front subframe, rear bushes and then the front subframe can go back in.
The auto gearbox is now bolted back in. It needs the pocon-ten system wrapping back around the rear (cables that wrap round the gearbox and attach to the dash structure. Use the weight of the gearbox being pushed back in a crash to pull dash forwards) I've also managed to lose one of the torque converter bolts so need to order one of them before I can refit the starter.
These couple of issues are stalling the project a bit at the moment
I can get on with painting little odds and ends like this driveshaft/turbo shield
Progress has been a bit slow over the last 2 months or so due to my work pattern and a whole load of issues with the house taking up my time. I now have covid but with quite mild symptoms thankfully so it's giving me some much needed time at home. I also made the mistake in trusting the 30 year old bonnet struts on the white can and put my phone on the slam panel. A strut went pop and the bonnet catch slammed onto my phone screen. This has pretty much stopped my updates. New phone should be here soon. Could do with a laptop really, it would make life a lot easier
I think tomorrow I'll pop the front brake caliper pistons out and start rebuilding those
As for the white quattro, I have now fitted a 200 front bumper and grill. I have a 200 splitter to go on and then it'll just need the headlights and trim. Its a much nicer looking front end than the 100 and easily reversible.
I've also swapped the red v8 tail lights onto it as I think they suite the white car better. The blue car can go back to the standard lights which match the orange indicators on the front
I've got a couple of large boxes to rebuild. I have discs all round, front pads, front and rear caliper rebuild kits, front and rear brake flexis, front strut tops, front strut dust gaiters and bump stops, front wheel bearings, front subframe bushes, front gearbox mounts, front tca's and a few other bits I've probably forgotten. So lots to do, it just needs to happen in order.
The dampers didn't need doing as it had new bilsteins all round a couple of years ago by PO.
Other jobs that need doing are the headlining, a bit of paint around the front wings, fixing a wiring fault with the front electric windows, speedo fault and I need to paint the rocker cover. Oh and I need to swap the good rear half of the exhaust on from the white one. The current setup is a bit of a lashup
Once all that's don't ill feel like I can sell it as a reasonably decent low mileage car and hopefully the next owner won't just break it for its engine
Apologies for all the. Spelling mistakes, I'm working with a phone with a large chunk taken out of the screen and it has a mind of its own
