A new thread for vehicles exactly 'As Found' - In the last few years there appears to section of the market that has directed itself towards the term 'As Found' and in some cases vendors offering / purchases paying more for such examples covered in thick dust, debris & rust along with being in a non running condition after years of storage than the cost of a running & on the road example - here's a few pics to kick the thread off with
1926 Rolls Royce Silver Ghost - Recently exhumed from long term storage and is offered for sale in New York by a dealer at $89,500 - full restoration costs would readily surpass this figure several times over but there's a section of the market that would just recommission the mechanicals and leave the body, trim & cosmetics exactly as found
One of my own finds a 1952 Jowett Javelin - placed into the garage in 1966 and exhumed early this year - it now has a new home with a collector in Cheshire
This 1970 Mini Clubman recently changed hands at auction after being barn stored for 33 years - £38,250 was paid for the privilege of owning it - When a really nice road going example of the car can be had for £20 - £25k
I was at Buxton for the H&H Auction last Wednesday, and I really fancied the Facel-Vega "as found" restoration project. I don't have the space for another project, and it's just as well because it went for something like £60k.
Lovely! I find the design cues fascinating - particularly the rear window. Partly technology (because we can - almost - we can't quite cast it in one piece yet) but a bit of art deco maybe?
