Result on the Ape! hope things arent too bad and you can keep the cash for the project!
All proceeds of toys being sold off at the moment are going into paying for the project. It’s nearly paid in full. Once it’s collected there is a lot of development work to do which is time not money 😊
A quick google suggests thats a Honda Goldwing part. Knowing you however I'm guessing its a Honda Goldwing powered microlight of some description just because you can.

I shall neither confirm nor deny some , any or all of the above 🤣
Still in the research stage until next weekend when ,’” ITS COMING HOME”, unlike any sporting trophies 🤣 Spoke to my tame garage owner and got a COP from him,( coil over plug/ pencil coil). A dead Vw one, just to see.
As I thought, it’s too long. Bear with, all will be revealed and the height issue will become apparent. So, off with its shielding
Off with its prophylactic covering
It does have an extension fitted
But you muller the coil getting it off. Into the lathe to see its construction
Interesting construction, and information gained that’s not readily available. Waiting on a Denso COP now from a Jaguar which, I am told is a lot shorter. 😊 When all is revealed, you will understand my quest for coil on plugs…..
Unexpected delivery yesterday. The Welsh madman who collected the three wheelers at nearly midnight the other night, owns a scrapyard in Wales. In passing I mentioned I was looking for a Smartcar front suspension. Conversation ended, got him loaded up, gave him quite a lot of other parts that weren’t included in the sale, and thought that would be the end of it. Evidently not…🤣
A van rolls up and out jumps crazy Welshman’s friend….”heard you woz looking for one of these, Darren says ta”… Complete front suspension…..what a load of rubbish. Looks like some smartarsed engineering student designed it…on the cheap. Everything upside down. Who puts ball joints in the hub and the taper in the wishbone? Same stupid idea with the tierod ends, socket on the rack, ball joint in the hub. Whole carrier made on the cheap from pressed sardine cans. Glad I didn’t pay for it! I won’t be using this, into the skip you go 🤣🤣 Well, apart from the steering rack, that’s ultra short and has potential…
Turns out this is from the early Version. The one I am thinking might work is from the mark two that was introduced in 2008.Research continues

Well at least you can change the ball joints as a separate component - try doing that on the vast majority of noughties onwards stuff - you can't in the respect that you now have to purchase complete lower / upper suspension arms in which the ball joints are pressed in - I've a creaking bush on the front lower arms of my Range Rover that I want to change prior to the MOT in December and you can't even purchase the bushes separately - So new arms it is then £350 a side - How the hell the motor industry will ever be in a position to call its self carbon neutral is a loss to me.
