Horch became Audi for those who didn’t know This is the block that I will copy. It’s not quite right,so the changes will be made in the patterns before casting and machining.
I thought one of the earlier glues said not made in Euro ?
Yes it did....except that was going off what information I had at the time. I was under the impression it was a four banger out of a armoured car produced in the 1970’s in South Africa, as I know the customer has two of those for his collection that he wants to rebuild, and the fuzzy picture I had been given had one of them in the back ground.....
Great job to get though nothing that will done again.
When does the process start ?
Hard to say. Up there later today to get the milling machine running. Block has been scanned but unfortunately certain characters don’t quite understand the process, but that doesn’t seem to stop them having a lot to say about it( same bloke with zero hours cnc experience, who overnight has become an expert 🙄). You scan ,you get a stereo lithographic rendering of it. You then have to spend a lot of time converting this into a format that is a bit more CAD friendly,so ultimately you can convert the .stl file to either .step or .iges files. You can then start making the changes to the 3D model that you need to, ie, scaling it up to allow for shrinkage, changing the exterior details that aren’t correct, and adding material in the areas that will be machined after casting. The sooner he grasps that concept, the sooner we move on.....
Its still going to be months before the block is cast. Quite why it’s being cast in Holland ,I don’t know. I have a couple of companies in the U.K. that I would trust to do it,and they speak nearly the same language as I do ....🤣🤣🤣
Mystic Strikeys crystal ball sees a falling out in the future....
Some project mind!
There will be no falling out. It will be made blatantly clear, that if he wants me to machine it, I will. £500 an hour if he insists on me baby sitting his ex spurt whilst doing it ...🤣🤣
I won’t be playing second fiddle to a bloke who cannot even switch the spindle on, because he knows better....
