This has been niggling me! Had a mo when I remembered something close, but I suspect no Havana as the valve train seems to be vertical? Another clue is in order, no?!
That is very similar In design to the engine used in the Renault Ft17 tank I was involved with a couple of years back 😊
The engine will be a V12 probably of a high capacity 1930's - 1945 original manufacturing date, originally produced in the northeastern section of Europe?
This is just a guess going buy some of JB's previous project involvements.
Am I getting warm JB?
No. Think you must have missed this 😊
“4cyl in line. Two cylinder heads. Valves not in the heads. Valves not parallel to the bores.“ Engine not manufactured in Europe
Yes I had.
There is so much to see here compared to others but only so many hours in a day.
Nothing constructive to add but can we get started now please!
I wish. 😊
Still have a couple of stumbling blocks with the owner to sort out before I actually agree to take the job on. One of them being a very irritating bloke that works for him,who now fancies himself as a cnc machinist. Not that he has ever machined anything cnc in his life. “After all ,cnc machining is just ribbon based programmes, like auto cad, that you just click on the tool and it does it”, his words, not mine. 🙄
I plan on giving him a wide berth. Let him find out for himself what it is all about. He has given himself enough rope for a proper hanging 🤣🤣 I won’t do this job with him about and I definitely won’t be playing second fiddle to a div with an opinion, but precious little else. That said, I am sure the owner and I will come to an agreement 😊
When this 'gentleman' runs the tool into the bed or something else solid a couple of times I expect he will be relegated to making your tea
JB - Just narrowing the field down are we talking a non stem valve engine here - something like a poppet or sleeve valves
Proper stem valves operated by a camshaft. Haven’t looked if it’s got rockers, but probably has. Valves nearly 90degrees to the bore. And just to make it interesting ,I would imagine it will use two cylinder head gaskets per head....

Well, seeing he doesn’t understand the concept of offsets,it going to be something that’s going to happen sooner rather than later, given it’s got a 32 tool changer on it. He knows better than my tried and tested way of setting one tool to a zero height, with every other tool offset to that, so I will leave him to it....😊
Flat four for aircraft or even one of them Jowett things?
Jowett things 🤣🤣🤣
Nope. Inline 4cylinder. Two cylinder heads. Four head gaskets. Water cooled. 8 valves but they are not in the head and not parallel to the bores. Pretty much all cast iron construction....
