Love this photo as pretty much everything you see, I made...The sprockets, the bolts, the grease cap,the track, the lock plates...even remachined the hub as it was damaged
This rear idler and tensioner gave me loads of grief. The arm was bent. That was fun and games to sort out
The gearbox was well shot up....I spent three months repairing the gearbox casing

Ho - Fun & games - now I'm aware of what is to come as I played a small a role here - Nope I have not taken to restoring / painting military vehicles either (although I did a few back in the 1980's) - I won't spoil the storey - I'll let JB continue on his journey & narrate it

“ Hi Johnny, it’s Chris ,(Grumpy Northerner) “ Hi Chris, how have you been?” “ Very well thank you. Just back from collecting a car from the Bradford Industrial Museum. We are taking a barnfind Jowett to the NEC” ...... And so that was the beginning of a very interesting conversation a few years back. The long and the short of it was the Bradford Industrial Museum had a toolroom down in the basement. It was used to manufacture all the bits and bobs it needed to get the Steam powered exhibits running when they built the museum .Once the museum was finished, the tool room had been mothballed as it wasn’t needed as much, and as time when on, most of the volunteer engineers had either passed on or moved away.
Fast forward twenty years and the toolroom was the center of attention again. The museum is owned by the council. They also owned a building off site that the museum uses for additional storage. The council had decided to sell this property off to developers, and the museum would be loosing their storage space. The old toolroom ,if cleared , would be ideal storage. So they went about trying to get it cleared. A couple of people came and went. Most scared off by the fact it wouldn’t be an easy job, as it was down in the basement, and pretty much hemmed in from all sides. Not an easy job to get cleared. Others threw stupid figures at them for the work. In desperation they asked Chris if he knew anybody who would be Brave/ stupid enough to take it on.
“ I know this bloke” , said Chris. And that’s how it all started......🤣🤣
