I would just wait until you have the engine in, like Chris says you need a bit of weight when jacking it up ideally, you cant tighten the wishbone bolts until its at ride height anyhow

So here is something that doesn't happen everyday - a part on a Midget being replaced under warranty.
First of all, it is likely less than a week until I put the car in storage which of course means it is running better than it has all season. Italian tuneups continues to improve the running of the car. (of course the battery still runs down when I leave it due to the great lucas smoke release of 2020 - but that can wait until next year.
Last year as a consequence of the aformentioned smoke release I had to buy a new alternator. Got it through my mechanic and it was grinding louder and louder - mechanic agreed so a new one is coming. Warranties are amazing,
Full disclosure it is a GM delco part but when last did you get a warranty on your classic car.

Yesterday
3 new tyres replaced under warranty for the Javelin - purchased 2.5 years ago and the side walls cracked after less than 3,000 miles - replaced without fuss by Avon

showoff. seriously, well done! and yes, great to see service in these days
So, long time no work, why you ask? Because it is Canada and it is flipping cold!!!
Over the weekend we were down to -30C with the windchill (-20 on the thermometer)
We have also (as mentioned elsewhere been working on the kitchen - which has been a massive priority so as to minimize disruption. But this morning we woke up to this:
and still coming down 2-4 cm per hour - not going anywhere today!
But seeing as how it is a Monday morning and even in the snow wishing to be doing something else, here is a video:
Guess i wont be complaining about it ONLY being around 0° here this morning then!
Thanks and as for that screenshot from Perth -
24 hours later we are still digging out. We got about twice what we expected and VERY quickly. Mrs JP & I work from home anyways (even pre-covid) so no real issue there. Likewise my neighbour has a substantial snow blower which basically means I don't have a heart attack.
But, yesterday some people were stuck in traffic for 9 hours behind accidents and snow plows. Looking at the weather it is getting cold again by the end of the week, so, will have to clear off the back deck and patio so I can get to the hot tub and the shed respectively because I suspect the snow will be here for a while.
On Sunday I had to pick up a new faucet for the kitchen and at the same time got a sheet of drywall ro finish the range hood. This is always a hoot because of needing to fit a 4'X8' piece of drywall in Mrs JP's Mini Cooper. A few strange looks cutting it into smaller pieces in the parking lot of Home Depot. On the plus side I (strangely) had the sense to buy it before the storm which makes my life so much easier. (Hmm advanced planning, what a concept!)
AND when I was at Home Depot they had Rolling Tool Chests on sale - I had been looking at them for a very long time trying to justify buying one, well, the price reduction made it worth my while, so it is being delivered today (won't fit in a Mini Cooper!) This is part of a larger plan to organize the garage and finish repairing and renovating it.
Stay safe, cant remember the last time ive seen snow like that if ever! Is the energy price thing affecting you or is it just us and Euroupe?
really just you and Europe. Our prices haven't changed enormously (except pump gas which seems to me to be more like price gouging and restricting supply)
Electricity is expensive and the apartment on the house is heated by electricity but, the house is natural gas and last month's bill was $98 CDN for a not especially well insulated 80 year old house.

Any chance that you'd like to swap your $98 CDN bill for my £300 bill for a very draughty even less insulated 150 year old former Methodist Chapel
would you throw in a Jowett?
Today was shovelling and shovelling and, ummm, shovelling. My next door neighbour owns a snow blower and came and blew out the driveway. Today was clearing out the pile at the end of the driveway that the snowplow leaves (twice)
Then two decks - on to the hot tub and one to the shed. Only did a path to the shed.
In the meantime the cat took most of a mortgage payment getting three teeth pulled. All went well though. Oh and a delivery at 8 PM after drama - which should be discussed tomorrow as the story continues (slightly) to develop.
2011 was the last time we had snow like that back home. I ended up walking it the 6 miles to work only for them to send us home! It only fell over the North Midlands/South Yorkshire so very localised overnight dumping. The dogs enjoyed their walk that afternoon.

Things are afoot!
So, first of all, the driveway is clear and dry but it is still cold! -14C as I type and -21 by 7 am - I am not going anywhere.
Back to the story. First the garage. We (I) am fortunate to have a 16' X 20' double garage to play in but it is always a mess. Partly because there is just too much stuff and partly because I am not super organized and don't always put things away as I ought. As well I am cheap so I never have/ get proper storage stuff for what I need.
So, this is probably better than normal.
Just before Christmas on FaceBook a very heavy duty cabinet appeared, a quick message exchange and for $20 this came home
The case is about 6' high and 3' wide and I think 18' deep (whatever that is in new money)
The plan was to get it into the back wall of the garage on the left (see first pic) but I really wasn't sure what else. Then as mentioned I found myself at Home Depot buying drywall before the storm and there were tool chests on sale.
Now these boxes are available in different places and Home Depot is among the most competatively priced. I have been looking at this version for at least a year trying to make up my mind
at home depot this one was on sale
so 52" instead of 46" - and $100 off making it the same price as the smaller one.
Done!
I then bought it and arranged delivery (doesn't fit the aformentioned Mini Cooper) - quick side story, the discount didn't show up on the computer so she had to enter it manually. However the computer would only accept a percentage - so says I 'enter 20%' she looks at me dubiously (how could I know such magic?!) but sure enough it was right (actually it was 40 cents in her favour but I'm OK with that) What happened then was that the delivery fee was also reduced 20% - and she coundln't fix it so rather than admit it she just let it go - result!
Which brings us to Tuesday night at about 8PM when this hilarious Jamaican guy drops it off after much drama and at least one wrong address.
Quick assembly as it was recycling night for garbage so all the cardboard could go and here it is:
Oh and here is the best part - they dropped off the box in the garage and on the side of the box was a big sheet of paper sign advertizing the price as $100 cheaper again (40% off!) So happy, took the page took the receipt and Home Depot gladly refunded the difference - actually they returned it and sold it back to me at the reduced rate - so I even got my 40 cents back!
All in all a very happy puppy and looking forward to the weather getting warm enough to organize.
