Are you carpeting the load area?

I have carpeted the load area previously.
I used rubber backed mats, and edged it.



It looks better there than it actually is alas.
The binding has come unglued - I used hotmelt glue, and not high temp contact adhesive  

The Traveller was never designed to take carpets - it was a moulded rubber mat, which of course doesn't last 50+ years and is unobtainable.
So getting the piece on back of the seat to fit right is a challenge.

Also I hate the gap between the tailgate and the boot floor, if you drop something there, and shut the tailgate - messes up the bodywork.

But it will do for now

Been stupidly busy - mainly work alas.
But I did manage a few hours on the carpets today.
The area around the bench seat was very bitty, and was going to be tricky to do neatly.



Until I happened upon this idea.
I had some high density foam.
I sliced up three pieces with an old kitchen knife, and shaped it with a Surform.
Once stuck together, the level was built up towards the seat bracket.



I trimmed it roughly in vinyl, largely so if a edge/corner peeks through, it woulldn't show as bright blue.



Spent a bit of time templating, cutting and edging two pieces of carpet



Just laid in place for now, but so much tidier than when I started - happy.



Drivers side was a similar process, but complicated by the handbrake.
Another block of foam, with a rough trim of vinyl.



But with with the carpet laid in place, it functions perfectly.



Needs a little tidying at the base of the handbrake, but that can wait for another day.
But I'm very happy on how well a tricky area has turned out.

Just one little piece to do on the transmission tunnel, and maybe a few more carpet studs, then I can call the carpets done.

Seatbelts next.

That looks fantastic. I really like your solution of raising the height of the gaps around and in between the seat runners. It looks simplified and much tidier. Wish I'd done it like that on my car. Oh well, plenty of materials left over, I could give it another go I guess....sigh

OHHHH, I need a handbrake cover as I have the handbrake on the outside too, not sure how to do it yet because Im using bucket seats it may need padding too to stop chafing as you get in the van, one thing for certain is it will need to be kept adjusted so it never sits up too high and stop painful exiting..
And Mr Moglite, where did you get that speckled carpet in the tailgate area??

You need one of those handbrake levers which after the brake is applied, the lever drops back down to the floor. To release the brake you lift the lever up until you feel resistance then pull up to release and lower it as normal.  Don't know the name for them and can't think what cars have them but someone on here will.
