The bodges

These are what I found in the first few days of ownership.

If you need to replace the clutch flexi - try using a cable tie to fasten it to the remains of the old one



This is the drivers side inner wing.
I'm sure the fitting instructions for the spin-on oil filter conversion, didn't actually say, smash the hoses through gashes in the inner wing.



Some of the electrical improvements were dubious to say the least



There are lots more "surprises" to be uncovered underneath, but we'll get to those.

Wadebridge in Cornwall, there must have been some good cider available locally.

Radiator slam panel

See if you can spot the Easter Egg in this mod......
The Farina engine bay isn't a great design, mine looked like this in the early days.



There is a huge void between the grille, and the bonnet slam panel.
It has all the holes for the different models of Farina.

Time to persuade an aluminium panel into shape.
Just pop-rivets holding in V1.0 of the panel for now, but looking miles better already.



The final panel I wanted bead rolled and dimple die'd.
My new favourite gadget is a 3D printer, so I could print some dimple dies in whatever shape/size I wanted.
They had no problem with 1mm ali. I suspect they'll be fine in 1mm steel too. But I've not tested them in anything stronger.



Mark out carefully, and do the bead rolling first.



A Q-punch makes light work of making the holes, then open up the oval holes.
I made a few tweaks to the first panel, so this in V2.0 in the making.



Colour time.
This is a finish I've been trying to replicate for a long while.
It is clear Raptor bedliner, tinted with the same Dove Grey as the car.
But with a handful of metalflake thrown in for good measure.



I couldn't be happier with the way it turned out.



At some point the pop rivets got swapped out for Dzus fasteners.
Along with some ickle nylon washers to stop scratches.

Here it is all fitted up.



Definitely one of my favourite pieces of the build so far.

And the Easter Egg ( a hidden detail/design. or something to find )

That’s going to be a proper bit of kit when done. Glad the wheels it rolled in on didn’t last long 🤣🤣🤣

It's great to revisit this elegant old girl and watch her being put back to stock. Hard to believe that the last owner stood back after fitting those wing mirrors, wheels and seats and though "Perfect!" 

It's just missing a period caravan!

I look forward to that. I would love to do a blower on the 1275 Mini but don’t fancy the £2k that Vmax Scart are charging.
