I was for sometime involved with a windscreen fitting company - I have little book somewhere with all the crossover fitments that other manufactures used - you would be amazed at some of the stuff - I think it was Morrisons who were producing coach built ice cream vans on various chassis but used a Bedford CF van windscreen fitted upside down in the aperture

The MG Y series powered by MG's 1250cc XPAG engine used the body shell from the Morris 8 but on a longer 99" wheelbase chassis - hence the nose of the car was much longer than that of the 8
Whilst the smaller 90" wheel base 4 door / 81" wheelbase 2 door & tourer Morris 8 used the 918cc UB side valve Morris engine
How about a bit of parts sharing within the same manufacturer? For example, VW used the same spine, front axle, gearbox and engine from the Beetle in the Karmann Ghia. Only the floorpan halves were swapped for wider ones that didn't taper at the doors. This made the Ghia pan suitable for the Fridolin post van and the type 181/182 Trekker. The Type 3 (notchback, fastback and squareback) had a totally different floorpan and front suspension, but the gearbox was largely the same as the Beetle, as was the engine underneath totally different tinwear, and again, the Type 3 Karmann Ghia (the razoredge) had the same running gear as the notch, fasty and square.
I did think that, but the type 3 is such an unknown to so many people, I thought it was worth mentioning! In a similar vein, the mk1 Jetta borrows virtually everything from the mk1 Golf, so much so that the boot floor is a Jetta only part welded to the rear edge of the Golf shell! Yes, there's a weld across the middle of the boot floor!
Keeping it true to the spirit of the thread of manufacturers "borrowing" parts from other maufacturers , i think we could have a whole other thread of common parts through builders ranges.

They carries in the idea in to the MK2 Jetta as well
Borrowed is mechanicals & drive train from the Vauxhall Viva / Mangum range utilising the 2.3 litre engine which was available with a turbo on later cars
Not to be picky, but the engine was the twin-cam Lotus unit and I believe the gearbox was also the same as used in the Lotus that the engine came from. The rest is the same, though - or maybe perhaps not the rear axle.
And, this lovely dashboard from the wedge-shaped Aston Martin Lagonda:
Column stalks from the later Viva / Magnum / Firenza, or possibly Chevette. Floormat from the local bathroom shop.
