Every chance that there could be family members in there somewhere though. Mum used to spend her summers as a youngster at the Jubilee Pool and ended up swimming for the county.
Guildford High Street back in the day - love it! 🤓
I tried to find roughly the same spot that this photo was taken on GoogleEarth, couldn't quite get the same angle. I must say I'm very impressed by the absence of lens distortion on this old b&w photo. Using my modern DSLR the buildings would lean in slightly and I'd have to use Photoshop to correct the distortion.

Correct...the 80's one is taken from the Roseland side looking back towards the Trelissick side. Its a very pretty drive and crossing , interesting too as there are unexpectedly large ships laid up that far up the River Fal. I'll try and find some pics of that.
I spend hours scouring these photos trying to find cars like mine in the background, and I've even gone to the trouble of buying old collections of slides just in case there are holiday snaps featuring high streets with cars on them. I haven't really turned up anything that interesting, though here's a few from a batch I bought last year.
I am sure you have all seen this flickr album of similar things:

UK Motorail operated from 1955 through to 1995 - reintroduced in 1999 from London Paddington to Penzance but was withdrawn in 2005 - It is however popular in other countries - in 2018 a collection of Jowett's boarded in Dusseldorf - Germany on the overnight sleeper to Innsbruck - Austria - then continued onwards by road into Switzerland to attend a national rally
I noticed this first photo on a display board in Chester Grosvenor Shopping Centre when I was there earlier this year, and it intrigued me.
It's a Comet fuselage, being towed through the centre of Chester. Apparently a small number of these were built at Shorts in Belfast, shipped across to Ellesmere Port and sent by road to what is now the Airbus factory in Hawarden. At the time, the Chester ring-road wasn't built, so the only option was to drive through the city centre.
This led to some discussion in the pub as to what route it took to get to that point, because further around the corner in the back of the photo there's either a very sharp left turn up towards the town hall, or going straight along there is Eastgate - the one with the clock on it.
This other photo I found on-line shows that they were brought under Eastgate, as this view from under the clock shows, with WH Smiths on the left hand side. Clever of those Romans to make sure the gate was large enough to fit a plane fuselage under it. I wonder what they'd have done if it wasn't.
