Atleast you don't have a T3 lock down. Id rather the wind.
Oh, I don't know. Our lock-downs have been changed so often, made more or less severe at the drop of a hat, some areas following guidelines, others making them up as they go, that nobody quite knows what they can do now!
Anyway, that was an anticlimax.
Although there was severe flooding and damage only a few miles south of us, we only got a spot of rain and absolutely zero, and I mean zero wind.
Still, better than than six foot of water outside!
Good news is that the reported death toll is small and hopefully stays that way. Looks like they've got the evacuations working pretty well now.
Another one out to the east, but only a baby yet.
At least someone found a good use for a jeepney...

Must have been diverted our way George - nothing but wind & rain without let up here - not exactly a storm but the wheelie bins are self relocating as I write

They reckon 16 now dead, over two million affected to a greater or lesser degree, and one island hit by the full force, left without power or communications, is now relying on air supply for food and drinking water.
Over 300,000 were evacuated before the storm hit. An enormous task.
Seems like both north, south and east of us was hit, we were avoided.
Slighty off topic (again), but whilst mooching through the Jobs Ads, I espy some Civil Engineer job for Manila Metro at a quite eye-watering sum per month.... I take it things are (glacially) moving at last??
I had a walk round Southwold yesterday, mainly because the library (WH Smith) stocks a magazine I wanted and the one in hometown was wedged with oldies frantically trying to access the Post Office before it all goes west. We got caught in one hell of a squall and had to hide in a beach hut verandah with the Dawg who was NOT impressed - we got drowned and cold and Barley The Dawg was very upset.... (not quite Typhoon scale but ruddy Nora that got bumpy for a while..)
Rover 75 Connie SE (stored) MG ZTT 160 (for sale) Rover 75 Connie Tourer (dog hauler and general shifter) Toyota Starlet Sportif Auto (town car) Maestro 700 van (under build)

Is there an actual topic?
Actually, that job looks like it's on my project. Our Civils Project Manager left a while ago and hasn't yet been replaced. It reads very similar to his ex-role. So if you fancy working on around 50km of a 150km all elevated line that's started build, then fill yer boots. The expat terms are pretty good with accommodation and so on all paid for. Unfortunately, living here already, I didn't get any of that!
Luckily, the job is on one of Duterte's priority projects under his "Build, build, build" plan and, as it's overseas bank funded, we've been going full tilt throughout.
Had the same yesterday. It'd been fine all day until I finished work and Lola demanded out. As soon as we got just too far from home, the heavens opened. We got back sodden and she looked at me in a very disapproving manner, like it was all my fault!
We moved out of our Harbour Bridge view apartment the other weekend as we wanted somewhere with a bit of outdoor space to enjoy. Found a lovely granny flat overlooking the Middle Harbour with it's own patio and lawn. It's chucked it down ever since bar 2 days this week.

That's how I'd like to change my view as well. Nice!
Today, we mainly have Ulysses, who's popped in to give us a bit of a blow. Doing a pretty good job of it too, the lad.
Manila's gone to DEFCON 4 or whatever today's warning is, and heavy and incessant rain is now causing the cross street just down from us to flood. It's probably risen by around six inches in the last half hour. I'm glad we're not still in our last house, it'd be knee deep outside by now.
We're okay at the moment but I may have to lay Ate Crazy across the bottom of the front door if it gets much deeper, due to no sandbags. No, don't worry, she's already done the beer run so can be released for other, more mundane, duties.
They've declared Walang Pasok (school closures) which, given they haven't opened since March, seems a bit pointless and government work has been suspended. They have to tell us that, otherwise nobody would actually notice.
A beautiful, sunny and calm morning here today as well.
We've got no water, but we do have beer, so all is not lost.
They've very kindly given us today off so, as the Bottle Openers seem to want need some retail therapy, I'll be getting the '38 out and running them to the mall, see what state the rest of Manila's in.
See, I really need a break. No, I really, really need a break. Work's been frantic for months and basically I've not been out of the house since March, not properly anyway.
So, I fired off a couple of emails to places we've stayed at before to see if they were actually operating and then waited.
Eventually, Girlie from the Coral Beach Club contacted me saying yes, they were up and running, just let them know the dates and she'll book me in. The CBC is a nice quiet little place down in Lian, on Matabungkay Beach. If I remember, it's owned by an Australian, so the food is good, portions generous and, more to the point, the bar is open all day long. Ideal place just to chill for a couple of nights.
Matabungkay itself is a very small, very Filipino resort, so you avoid the hoards of Koreans and Europeans that populate the more international places. In addition, the drive down, following the coast is spectacular in places...
I was going to pull the trigger, three nights, just me, myself and I, with Kindle, but without laptop, for some serious downtime.
Then my sump drain blocked and will probably have to come off for investigation.
Yes there are, but being as I'm only a White Guy and therefore can't possibly (thankfully) drive Philippine style, they all want me to have a driver. He'll drive, well, like a Filipino and want to avoid the scenic route, as it would distract him from Facebook on his mobile and use the boring highway instead. It'll probably be an uncomfortable Toyota as well. It'll be a different driver picking me up, who'll get hopelessly lost on the way down. Is it all worth it, I ask?
I could nick Madam's, but I don't like it and how will she get the 500m for manicure/pedicure whilst I'm gone?
There's a few fun spots down there for a bit of off-road as well, not possible in hers. In fact last time we went, we had to plough through a landslide to get to the tunnel under Mount Palay, so only the '38 could have got us there.
The alternative is to wait until I can point the rather lovely, Epsom Green and V8 filled nose in a southerly direction. That way, the chill will start the second I leave Manila.
