I only voted to keep it seperated so i didnt get that sinking feeling when new rx post isnt actually (directly) a rx post after all , however bonkers the content is!

To be honest, I would be quite shocked if any RX post contained any bona fide RX content.

Nothing ever changes in JB land - I think that 3 wheels on my wagon thread had 10 pages of 3 wheel content but was 100 + pages long - Not there is anything wrong in that at all

Roughly a two thirds majority of you would prefer tool restoration stuff in this ear thread. Your wish is my command 🤣 So, moving forward,if it’s going to be used directly on the rx2 project,it will be included here. Stuff I do for other people, will feature in my “Random things for Random people” thread in the “Pitlane Ramblings” section. The one thing everything posted in there has in common, is everything is for somebody else’s transport based project. I’ve got quite a lot of content for there, so go and have a look. You don’t have to be a King or a Dictator to get featured in it,in fact I think there are about three of you so far, that will feature in it shortly. 😊
So awhile a go I came up with this stroke of genius, a trench rammer Well,it’s a bit rough around the edges, but, like they say in the classics...” Everything has potential” This might be taking it a bit far,but bear with me 🤣🤣 It needs a light recommission having stood for many years. Carburettor all gummed up with two stroke oil after the petrol left the party many moons ago. Cleaned up with a new plug fitted Original fuel tank long gone. Was told the replacement held fuel about as well as a face mask, replaced that with a secondhand, original unit. New fuel tap and let’s get ready to rumble, literally 😊
Off to Brighton Saturday morning, to drop the House Elf off. No, not with his new socks and a new pair on concrete boots,he wasn’t going for swimming lessons in the harbour. He’s off to Uni there for the next five years 🙂🙁. It’s awful quiet at Bravo towers.... Anyway, moving on... Got some Brighton pride petrol whilst I was there, guaranteed to get the most frigid two stroke screaming for more in,well, like two strokes 🤣🤣( Not from Brighton, but makes for a good story. Smells nice when it burns too. Manly petrolhead aroma, Methanol, 20% nitromethanol, 5% synthetic oil. Also known as nitro fuel,as used in Radio controlled helicopters)
Well, Tina is a Screamer 🤣🤣 She got overly excited real quick, started having a foot stamping tantrum and promptly vomited all over her leg...Well I think it was vomit. So, I think we shall call that a partial success. I wasn’t about to run her for long anyway,as I don’t think it’s a good idea to run any petrol engine on methanol for any length of time unless it’s been tuned for it. The engine will run lean and hot, but it is a sure fire way of , err, seeing them fire up quickly. Also probably not a good idea to run a trench wacker on a concrete floor. There was liquid sunshine streaming down outside at the time, so needs must and all of that. Had a pile of cardboard in a ton bag for Tina to dance on....Mind yer toes she’s a chunky one.
The quick little tango also showed up that this petrol tank / cap also isn’t as leak proof as I would have liked. Not overly worried about that as it’s just from the fuel sloshing around. I have some cubes of fuel tank foam that will solve that issue. Just wasn’t sure if they were methanol proof,so did not put them in yet. Will drain the startup fluid and fill up with regular two stroke premix once the repairs are done
A promising start. Will definitely have the grunt to do what I want it to do. Just a case of making her a new shoe and buying her a new stocking before continuing....
So Trench Wackers and Cad drawings. He’s surely lost the plot...Or has he?
Here’s my thinking. The bootfloor is a challenge. Not because of the shape ,but rather the size or projected area of it. It’s roughly 1600mm long and 800mm wide. You would need a pretty big press to form something that big. No problem ,if you are in India ,where all our 1000T presses now reside. The chances of finding a 1000T press around these parts is,remote. The chances of owner of said press giving me Carte Blanche to use his press, whilst I develop and tweak the tooling is even less likely to happen. So, plain and simple, I am on a road to nowhere there.
So plan B. Plan B sees me getting some forming plates laser cut out of thin sheet metal. Make some bits out of plywood. Screw the whole lot together , go all girly, and iron out all the wrinkles In a new boot floor with a trench rammer.Seeing you are only doing small sections at a time, the power needed to do it reduces exponentially .What could go wrong? 😉
Really interested to see this boot floor appear from a flat sheet, can we have plenty of pictures when it happens please?
Are you going to leave the foot steel or put a nice piece of dense rubber or even nylon on the base?
Loads of photos will be taken. Still sorting out the Cad drawings. Couple of sections of the floor are simply not there on mine any more, totally rusted away. Waiting on some photos and dimensions to sort those areas out. 😊
Plan for the foot is something a bit more compliant. Researching a couple of options there,as we speak 😊
In other news, I have a new member in my team. He’s been feeling a bit poorly and off his food since the House Elf left the building. Having spoken to the vet about him today again, apparently Depression is not limited to humans. He’s off his food, but did perk up a bit this morning. He’s going to be overseeing all the Cad work on the Windscreen scuttle panel. Say hello to Midas 😊
