Always good to see workshop progress (and progress on a supposed Mazda!) On a Johnny Bravo thread
I have wondered if the Wankel engines could have the CR bumped up or not, guessing it would make them sound even more obnoxious
Mazda has used various compression ratio rotors from 8,3 up to 10:1. Detonation is the limiting factor. It physically pushes a dent into the face of the rotor. Often seen when you tear down high boost turbo motors.
Or, if you were the naughty apprentice you were given the older style spark erroder jobs to remove broken taps, Im a dab hand at getting broken taps and drills out
Time to moving things around. The two milling machines needed to move because they cause a bottleneck opposite the EDM room
The big lathe needed to move. Always good fun on your own 🤣🤣
Just enough space to turn it around
The small electrical distribution room in the corner protrudes more than the lathe,so it worked out perfectly .It sits closer to the wall than in this picture once the skates had been removed and the lathe was levelled
Milling machines over to where the big lathe was originally. Once all the hard graft was over, the slave finished dying of COVID and returned home from Uni. Time to start sorting out some racking to partition off Mazdaland 🤣🤣
Got the slave to cut off some unwanted brackets from some industrial racking I liberated when the next door neighbor went into liquidation.Left behind by the liquidator as they had done enough to cover their £75k bill and feck the rest of us who were still owed money 🤬
Have a good supply of non European standard size pallets that are ideal to cut up and make shelves for the racking
Property management company skip liberates enough 3x2 for the base of the shelves.
Operation shelf ran for two days and liberated some firewood for the fire pit too 🤣 Racking used to separate a Mazda section at the back
I wanted it partitioned off more, (mainly to keep the heat in,create more wall space and make the Mazda section more secluded),so some panels that used to be a built in cupboard got commandeered
Yes, the gap at the bottom is intentional,so I can get the pallet stacker in
Did part of the back side too. Bit of messing around with plywood packing pieces and tek screws
Little nook boarded out
Shelves packed, things moved around. Old Hardinge lathe paid for itself for on one job, turned a profit on the second. Needs some love as the previous owner obliterated the paint by pressure washing it with truck wash
So the Mazda is away from prying eyes, and I haven’t actually lost any workshop space in the process
