It was parked up next to this artful masterpiece. Good to know kids are the same all over the world. Brought the 12 year old out in me. The wife just shook her head.
I am going with 1969 ford falcon xw gt wagon (or thereabouts) - this is what the google gave me
Without looking at any comparable pics I had formed a strong opinion that it was certainly Ford based if you take the the styling cues from the nose of the Ford Zephyr (built 1966 - 1972)
Then the Mk 1 Ford Granada that replaced the Zephyr in 1972
Add the coke bottle styling down the side from the Mk 3 Ford Cortina introduced in 1970
And you have all the design cue elements for the car in the original pic
Indeed I am also aware of the USA Falcon - which to my eyes has a family resemblance. TBH I prefer the American version (I probably shouldn't say it out loud but I find many OZ cars of the era a bit 'chunky' to my eyes - almost more like the malais era USA cars.)
I think you're right Chris it's a XW Falcon body. Ford Australia did actually produce some XY 4x4 ute's and wagons so maybe this is a XW shell on a XY chassis and running gear.

They were called overlanders, they did them in panel vans as well. A company here did them for some Holden models as well.
If anyone was made enough to do it to a XW, XY GT then they have torn up over 100k as the GT`S are worth reticules amounts these days.
Spotted this old girl parked up in Noosaville. No idea what it is as there was no maker's logo on it anywhere and I'm assuming the Eagle bonnet emblem is just a generic item.
Indeed - furrowed brow radiator is as distinguished as a Roller radiator.
Yep - looks like a fifteen - the emblem is original too as far as I know
Apparently they have reg checkers out here (who knew?) and it’s a 1936 Daimler E20 Sedan. Wish I’d taken an extra photo as there was a plaque inside saying who had supplied it. It was a business up in Aberdeen is all I can remember.

Lovely! Still think might be coachbuilt, as Chris says, not least due to the split rear window, but I'm certainly no expert!
In any event a beautiful thing, and great to see it being used 😀
Bit of a rarity out here spotted at Hillarys boat harbour in Perth. Saw loads of cool stuff on Sunday afternoon but I was sat in the pub and the cars were outside so you'll just have to imagine it.
