Standard stroke for a 2.9 Cologne V6, just 1mm oversized Wossner pistons that needed fettling to miss the crankshaft webs and the crankshaft assembly got balanced by CTM at the same time as well
Wasn't a huge benefit to the pistons themselves over standard ones, but each assembled was 100g lighter and connected with Farndon H beam rods as well. Currently running an Emerald K3 ECU, and have a modified inlet manifold to go on when I've sorted out the throttle linkage mounting
Pete - Did actually have one round the oval or are we talking road cars here
never had the pleasure of a granny on the grass... biggest i ever managed was a cortina estate.
i'll just say that my mk2 ended up sporting a range rover bull bar and numerous spotlights , nobody messed with that old thing!
I have briefly, although I dont think a bit of off roading in my friends field that we were camping in really counts Although my ex did give the car a bit more of a blitz around said field later in the night with her 2 friends onboard, Blur Song 2 blasting out of the stereo amongst the screams and watching the car flick between headlights and tail lights

Looks like they did the old 'make it an interference fit and then take a thou off' 😂 I hadn't realised the cossie v6 was such a tight fit compared to the standard cologne.

my mates granny beside me. allegedly had a rebuilt motor before he acquired it and my god it was bomb proof , it literally ran like a sewing machine however much thrashing it took!
So currently trying to sort out either a wiring issue, and/or a duff thermostat!
Out on a run, the temp gauge will tip just over the half way mark and the cooling fan kicks in (where it is programmed too I hasten to add). When the fan kicks in, it will jolt the car as if the throttle has been snapped shut and open again, and the volt meter drops to 12volts. (Normally good as gold at 14 volts.)
The alternator has been rebuilt, the wiring all checked/returned to factory specs so that even the ammeter now works in the dash, and a voltage drop at the highest of 0.03volt between engine and body earth
The current thinking now is it a dodgy replacement thermostat fitted, and is the cooling fan drawing many more amps than it should (Hopefully not, as it is a Spal pusher type fan and wasn't cheap)

although at least you can pull the thermostat and check it in a pot of boiling water.
It still sounds like an alternator problem to me, you should see more than 12 volts unless you battery is duff so the alternator is doing all the work?

Tested at lunchtime today, and 60 amps of output, but the voltage tailed of down to 12 volts So that will be tomorrows little job to get sorted
Well, I ought to update a bit i guess, didnt realise I'd been away for soo long
Alternator was taken back and tested out ok on the test bench, so begrudgingly took it back and refitted in the vain hope it may be something else. Managed to make a proper bracket for the lower alternator mount, to replace the slotted arm that was on there. And getting the belt tensioned appears to have cured the charging issue!
The cooling fan kicking in all the time whilst driving was due to the thermostat not opening enough, as the fan would run and the top hose would be warm to the touch, but not above 80°. The thermostat should start to open at 88° apparently, so a Gates one was ordered and fitted.
There was also a significant coolant loss after going to Goodwood back in May as well, that turned out not to be the headgasket, but the O rings on the thermostat housing between the cylinder heads. So whilst the thermostat was being replaced, the offending O rings were replaced, the housing was attacked and cleaned up internally with the die grinder and reassembled.
Touch Wood, all appears to be ok on the cooling side now, and the fan kicks in and does its business as it needs to and much less frequently too
Right o! Shall give the image uploader a try with this post today
Managed to source the battery drain issue, that was some silly sod wiring up the injection relay to be always energised instead of ignition fed. Thankfully that was easily sorted by swapping the wires to relay in the add-on fuse/relay box to how they should've been and all good! That was just the thick red and the smaller blue wire in the top left of the picture
Also bought something off of ebay that I definitely don't need, but was too good a bargain to miss out on for a later on project

Right then chaps, radio silence for me doesn't mean I've been doing nowt. But struggling to sign in to this forum on any other device than my phone has been the main reason for lack of updates Last weekend i drained the diff oil, and found there was many sparkly, shiny metal bits in the oil
And with a magnet under the drain tray to see if it was magnetic stuff coming out
Oh, 2 pics seem to upset my posting box No idea what occurred there!
Anyways, with an inspection with my borescope type camera, no big nasty bits of crown or pinion were spotted missing. Just a few divots in the planet gear teeth, and in the middle of the surfaces too.
Time to get the LSD out and measured up! Ford, in their infinite wisdom, used a differential unit on the mk1 and mk2 Granada that no other Ford uses! Which makes finding a LSD equipped replacement a bit of a mission! (They do exist apparently, but are more rare than hens teeth!)
So I bought myself a BTR Engineering diff unit, and its even the same ratio as my Granada diff
Main issue is, its a bit different to the Ford unit
Oil change on the current poorly diff and only using the car when necessary has prolonged its life a bit. Til my drive home early on Friday 3rd March, and there was a lot of grumbling from the back end under braking So now no car use til the diff is swapped out.
