I got the car onto a brake tester at a local mot place, the good news Mr Mot is happy with the rebuilt brakes
Car is now parked up for the winter (290 miles, nothing fell off ), it got a coolant flush and antifreeze refresh just before.
Shame a quick photo I took on the trip didn’t come out so 2 tonage updates will have to wait for a while
The bike is a Yamaha TT600. A competition version of the popular XT600 fitted with magnesium castings and long travel suspension. It came with a dating certificate from Yamaha “Yep, this is a 19xx competition bike not suitable for the road” and a v5 & number plate. It’s a fun toy !

Ha look forward to seeing more! Right leg exercises in order! 🤣
I'm heading back to the UK in a few weeks time so expect updates on this soon. A few questions before then ...
BL steering racks. Will a Morris Minor rack fit Marina. or where can I get a Marina rack? ( the track rods are are fine buy there's some play in one of the rack ends.) Any suggestions ?
The reason I'm heading back to the UK is to move some stuff that's in storage. I'll be advertising the car stuff on here - there's also some fun bike stuff (road-legal Yam TT600, several Italijet mini-motos from the 70's, an early never-dropped VFR750, more...). Mods - any objections if I list them as well ? fer4l
Does anyone have a workshop I can make use of to do some fettling and/or have secure undercover storage space where I can leave this next time I head overseas?
Left hand rack end (assumed right hand drive rack). Bush at end of rack body often goes. Owner’s club do a bush. Info on how to do out there. No affiliation.
I'm back and the Marina is high on my to-do list, got it started a few days ago - nice but it confirms I need a new fuel pump Any suggestions where I can pick up an electric one? (Wrexham or Birmingham would be handy as I'm passing in the next couple of days. When it was running I moved it around a bit and the brakes free'd off nicely. Photos next week if plans work out
Also, PM sent as I'm thinking about selling off my bikes due to storage logistics. This hurts me but : Yam TT600 scrambler is in front of me - and - reluctantly- could be for sale around £2k. Road legal, V5 here, 1982 so tax & MOT exempt from this year. Collect from South Northumberland NE23 Honda VFR750-FN (early model on carbs, never dropped) is in deep storage and that's not doing it any favours. Single sided swing arm model, new stainless exhaust fitted a while ago. It was nice when it got parked up, now needs a good overhaul as everything is starting to stick / seize Collect from Chepstow. The set of 3 (2.75?) kids Italijets went last week
Warning : silly offers may be taken seriously and you could end up with a new project if you're not careful !
I’m back, and after fitting an electric fuel pump we set off for a trip home. Satnav said 350 miles, with diversions it was 400+, plenty for a shakedown run after a brief layup. Starting was a problem, first fix involved a few cans of hairspray in the air intake, a new coil was soon substituted as a more permanent fix. Starting is now a lot easer and the car feels a lot more lively (comparatively speaking)
Unable to add photos on iPhone 5s for some reason?
Bike update: the Yam scrambler and Honda VFR are now for sale
After a week of local trips the list of niggles include.. plenty
The temp gauge goes into the red when you turn on the lights (obviously I only found this out at night, when it was cold and dark). A few hours were spent tidying years of patchwork wiring and removing the aftermarket alarm before I found the problem was a bad earth behind the dash clocks. Cleaning the contacts in the multiway blade connector fixed it.
A snapped fan belt on the same trip turned on the red ignition light and sent the temp gauge high. A spare belt I was carrying was soon fitted and I bought 2 new spare belts to carry in the car. The engine seems fine after so I guess these motors cope OK with overheating (I blew a headgasket on my Hillman in seconds when a belt went, I'm glad this seems to have survived)
A flat tyre was fixed by removing it from the rim and refitting it.
The drivers door had been removed by PO to do some welding and never closed properly afterwards. Now it does.
The recently fitted drivers floor got a decent coat of paint to protect it.
I'm still seeing occasional air bubbles in the fuel line to the engine so there must be something in the tank area that needs fixing but I can't pinpoint it.
Its all small victories but it makes the car a lot nicer to drive.
The big Yam scrambler has been sold. I called into Halfrauds on the way home to beg some cardboard as I have some bits to post, enend up with new carpets, seat covers and a badly needed lumbar support.
The car is still being put to good use, recently reroofing a lockup garage.
Belated pics of the 2-tonage as requested.
It started running sweetly last week but still has niggles. Latest is air in the fuel line even after fitting a glass fuel filter before the carb and replacing almost everything apart from the tank.
