I collected this yesterday on behalf of the new owner
Tidy little van that requires a light recommission
Engine bay could do with a clean up, the engine will get serviced and the drive train will receive new oils - the exhaust is blowing on the manifold to downpipe joint and needs sorting
Door hinge pins are worn but easily sorted
They are identical to the ones on the Javelin and I already held a set in stock
Its not perfect but holds a nice patina
Rear window rubber requires replacing - Its covered 77,000 miles and I'd say that is genuine, engine starts freely and is very sweet, clutch requires a little adjustment and there's a small area of welding required to nearside rear damper mounting - It will make for a very nice run about once sorted

out of curiosity what would something like that sell for over the there. i love it but here people would want stupid money for them. I would like to have one as a small mobile bill board. cheers

Restoration projects tend to sell for high prices due to the desirability of them so £4k - £5k - something that is up and together / on the road is anything from £8k - £15k

Took a look at the exhaust yesterday thinking that the blow on the manifold to downpipe joint could be cured with a new clamp - I had to cut the old non original clamp off first
Then noticed a load of Mig weld bead on the flange lip of the downpipe
Went to separate the front downpipe from the rear silencer section to find this bodged with a exhaust bandage repair - once I had removed the clamps & repair the 2 sections wouldn't separate at all - note that the clamp end had also been contacting with the propshaft on occasions too
So with a front flange to repair
An aged downpipe that's weak & holed elsewhere
And the section that sleeves into the rear silencer also in a poor condition
Along with the outer sleeve section of the silencer way past its best
I don't mind repairing something if I can - providing it can be done economically and it adds a reasonable lifespan to the part - In this case its far from the case - I'd spend more time & money repairing this system than the price of a new one which is now on order and due for delivery today

New exhaust system arrived very promptly
I don't like having non runners about the workshop hence the system got fitted has soon as it arrived
Complete with the new manifold clamp - the van sounds so much better for the exhaust being sorted too with that lovely A series rasp from the rear of the exhaust

Non working number plate sorted
Bit of a fiddle because the tow bar largely prevents access
New front flexible brake pipes fitted
Along with new upper arm bump stops of the correct type
Brake pipes looked ok but they were hard with age and the end ferrules were beyond their service life
Once the nearside was done the offside got sorted - all the greasing points were attended to at the same time
Steering control arm was removed on the offside
And fitted the ball joints fitted with new dust boots prior to being refitted
Odd place for brake reservoir but this is a combined unit with the master cylinder that is mounted underfloor - The Morris 1000 had a very similar system fitted to it
No chance of fitting my air assisted easy bleed system to this
But there's always another way - use of a long quick release clamp and I had the brakes single handle bleed within a 10 mins - more tomorrow
looking great - I just discovered the wonders of gravity brake bleeding this week (why wasn't I told!) that and using light pushes of the brake pedal was back to a hard pedal in about an hour. very pleased!
