The thread for all your Micro & Light cars - Micro's were once in abundance on our roads however, the forerunner was the 'Light Car' a lightweight car that was popular from the early era of vehicle production and were quite often referred to as 'Cycle Cars' - they even had their own magazine dedicated to the subject 'The Light Car & Cyclecar'
This rare 1939 LLoyd 350 is pretty typical of the movement
This BSA 3 wheeler also from the same era
Cars were small engined lightweight construction typically early cars being timber framed, alloy or fabric covered, wire wheels were pretty common and the cars came with little or no luxury
Some models though oozed charm such as this French built 'Amilcar'
In the 1950's bubble cars became popular as a cheap & effective form of transport - one up from the motorbike & sidecar - still very popular today with the whole Microcar / light car movement enjoying a very much heightened interest - please feel free to post up pics of your favourites

The Bond 875 - now quite a rare vehicle - powered by the engine & drivetrain of the Hillman Imp in virtually the same layout - The complete car weighed less than 400 kilos hence it was pretty quick
I have elsewhere described my friend who collects these wee beasties. (the fellow I got the Multipla from) He has (I have been told) one of the nicest Bond Bugs in the world - it is certainly stunning to my eyes. He also has fellow microcar guys show up for help. One of these has been sitting in his shed for too many years, close to finished but not close enough.

The Subaru 360 was the manufactures first model - built from 1959 - 1971 and fitted with a rear mounted 2 cylinder 2 stroke engine - This has been a long term UK car and makes up just one of the 40 strong period taxi fleet for Goodwood Revival annually
